Its consists of 3 x 3hrs and 3 x 6hr lessons and you get to brew 4 different types of brews. Consists of $400 fee tho :? either way this is the year of the mash for me :D i will be hunting ebay and markets for what i need thats for sure

I applied for this years Food Science course at Ballarat Uni. The hope is to get the brewing cert and diploma done as electives.

My setup is as follows:

20 litre round willow esky ( $60 from bunnings)
40 litre ally pot ( $105 from local HBS)
4 ring burner and stand ( $115 from grain and grape)

... [snip]...
Out of curiosity, what type of regulators are people running with the 4 ring burners? I'm contemplating getting an adjustable medium pressure regulator for mine.

Apologies for jumping in late.

I consider my essential bits to be:
$50 75l Aluminium Boiler from tat shop.
$150 2*2400Watt Immersion Heaters. Got by with one for a while, but now the day is shorter.
$40 2*15-Amp extension leads.
$5 Swiss Voille Baggie.
$25 Ball Valve and weldless bits
$10 20l plastic bucket
$15 Digi Stick Thermometer

Then there are the other bits, like refractometers that make your beer better and skyhooks that make your life easier. Then, there's all the stuff I bought thinking it might be useful but wasn't.

I think I am about to buy a plate chiller - I've proved to myself that chilling makes a flavour difference to some beers that I like.
