Heh. The thing with Autosol is that it leaves a wax coating on the surface, which is why it looks so shiny. The wax will also protect the surface from dulling from oxidation.

Good point re autosol rwh....with my kegs I left them alone after the intense sanding to allow them to re-passivate or whatever the feck it's called, before firing them up in earnest again. As for the drilling for weldless taps, well that's another story with cutting oil and a decent (Morse) pilot drill...
