^needs Stones (little bit of Bickfords lime is good as well)

I'm drinking a pretty rough GB. Only 3 weeks old so I'm hoping it will improve but it is rough compared to previous GBs at the same age.

[EDIT: oh dear, I appear to be typing slowly, drunk and on a different page to the post I am pointing at]

Drinking a Barleywine I made over 2 years ago.
Has still a heap of chill haze but that disappears once it gets up to drinking temperature.

Beautiful drop, if I do say so myself. I'll have to make another soon, only two bottles left.

This one is a partial something. Consists of 2 kg Pilsener, 0.2 Vienna, 1.5 kg LLME, 0.2 LDME, 30g tett bittering, 20 g Saaz flavour/aroma, US-05, 21.5 IBU, 6.5%. Mashed @ 64c so it's nice and lightish, not watery.
Will sleep well while drinking this one.
Cheers

Had a sneak preview taste of a nice Mild APA last night...
Tastes nice at only 1 week in the keg...
Might have a heap more tonight while watching the Dockers smack Geelong out of the finals :)

21L AG brew (preboil 28L).
ABV 3.4% Est
3kg pale malt, 0.1 kg Caramalt, 0.1kg carafoam (as an experiment).
30g cascade 60 mins
30g cascade 15 mins
6g amarillo 5 mins
US05 yeast.
11 days primary, 7 days secondary,
finings 2 days, then chill and polyclar 1 day, then filtered.
Nice head foam, good lawnmower beer.

cheers,
chris

Racked my latest beer to keg and poured myself a pint of it, chilled but not carbonated.

Used my homegrown hops (chinook) and am yet again impressed at how 'fresh' the beer tastes.

Force carbed it so it will be ready to drink in less than an hour. Will do a few more tastes tests before the mates rock up just to make sure its not poison

When the mates rock up after a few more tests they may think you have been poisoned

Looks nice, hirns.

I'm slowly sipping 194IBU of unfermented Pliny clone. Pitched the cube onto 1272 today and I am mightily excited already.

Also had a sneaky taste of a slightly experimental APA I bottled today - no hops in the boil, all in the cube. It is completely out of style for mine but still looking to be a very tasty beer.

I started the day with a Carlton Natural, tasted suspiciously like soda water.

Now on to Gage Roads IPA. I haven't tasted many IPA's, while it's nice it dosen't seem that hoppy.
What's a good commercial IPA to try to get an idea of the style?

Gage Roads IPA really an IPA at all to my mind. As far as good, readily available IPAs go, well, they're pretty few and far between. James Squire IPA is a decent sort of introduction to IPAs but probably not a classic example of the style - it is far from a dog of a beer though. In terms of micros, Jameison's Beast IPA is not that hard to find and pretty nice (just ignore their own press suggesting this is a good AIPA).

My own IPA. Beautifully clear beer in the glass, as WY1968 will give that, even without filtration.

Last night I had a couple of glasses of Black Duck Best Bitter, at Flavours Restaurant in Watonga St, just down the road from home. That's brewed near Heron's Creek, and the restaurant is the only outlet at present. Here's a link to their website. It's really little more than a scaled up HB brewery, from all appearances.
The beer was a very clean nicely malty brew, with little in the way of hop flavour or aroma, but obviously plenty of hops for bittering. I wouldn't rate it as high as my own IPA, but it was very enjoyable with my Marinara pasta.
Mrs warra opinionated the only reason I took her to dinner was to taste this beer, so I didn't get any brownie points for the dinner.

Stone & Wood Pale Lager: Not bad, but not inspiring either... Lacks the crispness of the European lagers. I think it's underhopped.

Cheers :D

Mate, you're retired, make your own beer and play golf. What are you going to do with brownie points?

Interesting to see you talking about Black Duck - did you see his, erm, misguided attempt to get some help with label design at AHB recently? Happy to hear the beer is decent though.

Yeah, I followed that thread with interest, but remained silent.
Seems it's best to remain silent on that forum on many of the threads raised!

You're right about brownie points. No need to wait till evening when you're both whacked out from working too hard, if you get my drift!
