Yeah. As a new no-chiller, I got sick of reading other peoples' impressions of the effects of no-chilling on hop profile and not being able to work out how to adjust my own recipes at the same time of reading about Phillip's 10min IPA (at AHB) and wondering if it would work in the cube instead so I decided to try to resolve the two issues with one brew. It turns out that this beer is really tasty (but a little unbalanced but if I were to make it again I could fix that pretty easily, I was flying blind on this first one). The method works really well. The malt is the most distinct of any beer I've ever made but the hop flavour and aroma is so bright the I can't believe the two aspects are in the same beer. Not to say the beer is perfect, of course. Wouldn't do it with an APA again but it would work amazingly well with an AI(I)PA or pretty much any English pale, IMO.

Well in my extract days I was all about lots of hops from late in the boil. Would start with a 25 or 30 minute addition then hop burst in 5 minute intervals. Always turned out wonderfully flavourful and fragrant. I'm sure a great APA could be had all in cube, in the same fashion.

I think to get the required bitterness in the cube you'd be a little OTT in flavour and aroma for balance in an APA. Best to go large for an IPA, I reckon.

Had a sneaky taste of my Pliny tribute beer while bottling today. It is a bit grassy but well within style and I expect it to have faded by about half by the time it is carbed up. Really looking forward to this one.

Friday afternoon i grabbed a 4pack of Grolsch from woolies for 17 odd bucks
Swing top lid 450ml thingo .. I found the taste a bit boring to be honest, can i resuse these bottles with the lids?

Certainly can, RUM. I've got a bunch of those beasties for in case I ever want to bottle the left-overs of a batch after kegging. Just make sure you sanitise the lids as well as the rest of the bottle and you'll be good.

and for carbing just one drop in a bottle like this would be sufficient?

Depends how much you want to carb them. They are bigger than a stubbie so you might want to maybe consider the little sugar measuring scoops or even bulk priming for these bottles if you like a higher level of carbonation.

I use 1 drop for these bottles, and don't notice any great difference in carbonation. Rubber seals don't last forever, but are reasonably cheap to replace. (the taller, new design bottle seems to be more of a silicone than rubber)
Note. Apple cider seems to perish the rubber seals much quicker than beer.

Bottled my extract version of doc's TTL clone yesterday after finally getting around to brewing it. Smelled and tasted great out of the fermenter. Will post proper tasting results and recipe once its had some time in the bottle.

I've got the four empties.. so figured i'd put them to use along with my usual PET bottles .. just experimenting to see how the brew will come across from different bottles.

All Grain TL SNPA. Cracked first bottle tonight, very impressed. Strong hop impression first up but it balances quickly, only 2 weeks old so will give it more time.

I'm a bit disapointed, I love that sweaty horse smell but this time I just aint getting it.

Drinking my first DSGA (went with the original recipe, for those DSGA diehards out there.) I know that this beer is considered sacred by all who have brewed it, but I think I've gotten used to my own GA too much. Mine is a touch heavier in mouthfeel and has a much hoppier hit -- it's almost like being punched in the noggin with a grapefruit or [insert any other citrus fruit that you get flavours of in Amarillo here].

That isn't to say that I dislike it, quite on the contrary, I just think that I've become a bit too accustomed to my own golden ale.

Hand crafted pinklady cider and it's a pleasant change.

One of the first of winter's lagers. The one I had last night was fab, but this one smells and tastes slightly metallic.

Drinking a partial of my first TL SNPA clone. After drinking an AG TL SNPA earlier in the night, it really helps (makes) you realise why we do this AG stuff!!
