The're good for something ...

The only two advantages I see of PET over glass are:
(1) If you overprime on bottling, PET will split rather than shower glass/beer over a wide area of your favourite bottling site. Splitting rather than exploding also means less chance of the dreaded China Syndrome.
(2) When you run out of bottles while bottling, PET is a good, cheap, accessible emergency substitute.
My two beers' worth.

Have tasted my first brew over the last few days & was more than happy with the results (should have been doing it for years)

A couple of things I noticed with PET bottles
1. Put the cap back on a bottle & put it into the fridge half full. Didn't get back to it until the next day & all was still well including head

2. The sediment sits in the dimples at the bottom of the bottles even when you pour more than one glass

I still plan to try some swing top glass bottles, but won't be venturing into the world of bottle capping as I am a lazy bastard

Here's cheers

I've also put one of those bottle resealers you can pick up for wine bottles on a glass longneck after I've poured half of it out. Next day it was still good and fizzy with good head.

Have used about 6 1.25 litre softdrink bottles for some alchoholic ginger ale, will see how they go.

Put an old or other dark ale into a cheap cola bottle and see if you can get it past the neandertal bouncer at the footy.

Cant do that with glass no matter how fast you talk.
