I Brewed a spicy ghost on AFL Grand Final day & it's quite a reasonable drop.
At first it wasn't much chop, but now a few months later..., in this weather, it's not a bad thirst quencher.

Just done the 12-month review of mine. Sadly, I still have four stubbies left.
I concur with 501's conclusion.

i've still got my tin, i'm not going to write it off until i try it with some honey and some crystal.
maybe a lager yeast at temp.
it can't be that bad that it can't be improved with a bit of extra work.....can it ?

i'm prepared to eat my words here.....

Tyrone, Its not watery, has good body and head. I brewed with malt and corn syrup but had no hops handy so didnt use any. Hops would truly help this crap out. I agree with the others, it has a terrible chemical taste. I'll let them sit for another 6 months and see how they go.

*Update*

Well....last night I opened a cascade spicey ghost draught and to my surprise, it has finally matured into a nice beer.

I say finally because its taken like 5 months to get there (nearly tipped it down the sink a couple of times)

I have had samples along the way and was dissapointed with the chemically taste that others have mentioned.....until now.

While I now have another nice beer to drink I won't be buying it again in a hurry, the coopers draught I have of the same age is a much, much nicer.

I have a few in the fridge after a 6 months they're not bad. Not great, but drinable. Still a bit chemical tasting - though the guy at cascade said it had a mild infection after I sent it in.

I still have a tin from when they sent it to me and will have another go with a recipe they suggested.

But generaly, wating 6 months for a beer isn't too flash.

Amazingly all of the "brewers" who've given feedback on the Cascade website have very positive things to say.

http://www.cascadehomebrew.com.au/feedback/default.asp

Especially like this one: "Just to let you know I cracked open a bottle of the Spicy Ghost over the weekend. It has only been in the bottles for 3 weeks yet tasted awesome"

It's like when when you cheat on an exam (or so I've heard) - make sure you have the odd dud answer so it looks genuine.

Hi Guys,
Have brewed all the Cascade range. They must use a lager yeast or something similar because Ive brewed them at 6 Degrees and it still bubbles ! ! It takes about 3 week or so to ferment.I dont drink them until there at least 3 months old.

I did the Spicy Ghost and it is easily the worst brew I have done, just not a nice taste and a foul smell, I still have 30 stubbies sitting in the garage, I will leave them there until after winter, crack one and see how it is then

I have done a couple of the other Cascade range, the Imperial Pale Ale with a brewcraft Pale Ale blend and it has turned out quite nice at about 3-4 months in the bottle

and I just bottled the Cascade Mohogany Porter, looking forward to tasting that one in a month or so

but I will not do the Spicy Ghost again
