I had to go for Budwieser, the quality is as shocking as the price they demand for something that they surely extracted from the bladder of a dead badger.

Oh, God - the smell of Toohey's Red

You all know what I mean...

The smell of your most hated beer, surprisingly with me it's also the one I've had the worst ever hangover on; and the stomach just churns...

Bloody Toohey's Red - crockest shit I've ever had the misfortune to have to drink - Looking back, I wonder how the hell I managed to drink so much of it, probably the innocence of youth, a friends 18th spent camping. 13 years on and I'd definitely ask for a cup of tea instead.

VB would definitely rate second worst on my list, bloody hideous stuff, but doesn't have the dry retch factor.

Maybe we should start a new thread with the worst beer you've ever thrown up with.....?

Cheers and crack me a real homebrew

The beers that form this poll have all been tasted by Geoff and I and rated less than two stars.
Which of these beers do you rate most lowly?
Have you tasted a worse beer that's not on the list?
Hannans years ago its not around now 1 glass made me vomit

That was a nightmare longlux, I vaguely remember that crap, I think it was made using the waste water from the gold-miners socks and undies, then strained through a Hay Street girls sheets!

(Note for non WA people - Hay Street in Kalgoorlie is a red light strip for the miners etc)

worst beer ever!

Budweiser!!

My first experience of an American beer and boy was it f****d.

$5.00 US at the airport bar, the surly barman cracked the bottle, I had a swill of what tasted like watered down dishwater (I imagine dishwater would have more flavour). Skulled the rest of the bottle coz it was too painful to drink slowly (kind of like taking off a bandaid) and left disillusioned. The barman even got up me for not giving a tip (F*** that!).

How did it become king then? I didn't vote for it.

You don't vote for a king they just fall into the job by default.

You have to vote for a king in the US, its unconstitutional not to, sorry thats president, kind of the same thing or so they think.

Now after saying that it all kind of makes sense how Bud became King doesn't it.

Sorry, I don't mean to hurt anyones feelings, I hate all politicians and the King of Beers equally. And thats fine, the Bushes and Buschs know where to find me to insult me back.

and Oliver, its not slander if its true, is it?

Like it or not, Bud is the world's best selling beer, so in effect it has been chosen by the people as the king of beers.
It is a shame that it gives american beers a bad name, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of craft brewers in the US that make interesting, different and world class beers; Brewery Ommegang and Dogfish Head are two that come to mind. Even larger brewers like Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada make superior products.

and Jay, the reason that the bartender got upset about you not leaving a tip is because he relies on tips as his income and, once again, like it or not, it is customary to tip. He is probably making about $3 an hour from pay, the rest is tips, you'd be upset too if you went to work and didn't get paid.

ah tipping. what an arguement  tough call hipone.. my belief is that tipping should be exactly that - a tip. its up to the employer to factor employment into the cost of what theyre selling... not the consumer. some establishments charge way too much for a beer & then expect us to pay their staffs wages on top?!
like i said thats my belief.. just my 2 cents worth :D

thehipone,

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a tight arse or nothing (I did regularly tip 10%-20% in the US) I'd just got in the country and didn't believe in tipping someone for cracking one beer and for being rude (he was surly before I didn't tip and I was waiting at the empty bar for a while). So I'm not against tipping just tipping when the service is lowsy (the lack of tip had nothing to do with quality of beer) - and we've all worked for peanuts at some points in our lives, sorry to offend.

Jay.

Here is a tip,

Don't eat yellow snow,

Thats where the Huskies go

I am not a keener on giving out bucks just cause some takes the cap off for me. There needs to be some polite conversation about whatever, and if buying a Bud, they should have recommended a local brew as my Bartender in the States did. Otherwise, look both ways before you cross the street.

I am the dreaded thread hijacker. Sorry to do that again.

I guess you have the right not to tip at all if he was rude, however, from my experience an extremely small tip confers the message that the service was poor, while no tip tends to make you look cheap.

I do think that airport bartenders get shafted quite a bit, even if they are good. The whole "I'm never going to see this bartender again" mentality I think leads to people being cheap, which could have been why he was ornery in the first place.

Anyways, back to the original thread topic:

Heineken out of a can is quite an unpleasant experience, most overrated brew ever.
And if you guys think Bud is rough (it is), theres a whole world of Anheuser-Busch and American macro-brew products ready to bring the pain. Three words: Malt Liquor Beeyotch!
