Is that an un-biased opinion drsmurto? Sounds like a promising combination.
I'm drinking a Coopers Mild Ale after successfully getting my boat license tonight. AG stocks nearly non existent for a while.
Cheers

I like to think i am unbiased when it comes to wine and beer tasting.
Boston tells me he is equally impressed and the few people that have sampled it to date have been too.
A relief to be honest as there are 78 cases of the stuff!

4 Pines Pale Ale. Very nice. Thought I'd call by Dan Murfs today for a laugh, not expecting to find anything of note, and I found a good range of 4 Pines beers, @ $19.99 a 6 pack. Wanted to sample a few but didn't feel like buying 4 x 6 packs. So I swapped three Pales out of one pack for a Kolsch, Hefewizen and Stout. The label on the neck and cap are the same, so they didn't notice at the checkout. I only feel a tad guilty because three people are going to get a pale with their 'five' pack of stout, kolsch, or hef.

I've tried them all now except the Kolsch. (My other half drank that one.) My fave is the Stout, but the hef is great also. Think I might be doing the same swap trick with the six pack next time. One tinny bul nagging question though...the label says "HANDCRAFTED IN NEW SOUTH WALES. 4 PINES BREWING...." i.e. The label
doesn't say "Brewed by 4 Pines Brewery, Manly." The beer is very good though, I just wouldn't be surprised if this beer is made in a large brewery not exactly in Manly, but still in NSW. I'm guessing they've now worked out they don't have to say BUL if the beer is brewed in the same State. I mean they're not lying to people, the beer is brewed/made in NSW, just not at their smallish Manly operation. Yeah, not lying, but probably just as deceiving as the BUL buried in small print on (marketed as) imported Euro lagers. Then again, maybe I'm just cynical and paranoid...
Also, when I was at Dans I found a bottle of 'John Boston' with no info whatsoever of where it was brewed. Beer Advocate gave it a very poor review and suggested all the hard work had gone into
marketing rather than
brewing.

John Boston: "...republican, surgeon, apothecary, opportunist, schemer, salt-maker, trader and brewer."
ROFLMAO

This is - I'm not kidding, a direct quote from the John Boston website:
"The Brewing Brain
Bruce Peachey holds a place in brewing history as the man behind some of Australia’s best loved beers.
His credentials include the creation of Blue Tongue – yes you read it correctly, this is the brewing brain that developed Blue Tongue Premium Lager which was once Australia’s fastest growing premium brand.
Like Blue Tongue, Bruce developed and launched this beer using his creative beer brain and an instinctive ability to target the true qualities in a beer that premium beer consumers seek.
To round out his unquestionable credentials Bruce was also the man responsible for brewing Guinness and Lowenbrau under license for nine years.
With a brewing career like this the chances are extremely high that you have already enjoyed and loved a Bruce Peachey beer.
His talent now lies with the creation of John Boston Premium Lager and the latest addition, Boston’s Mill Pale Ale - certain to have a major place in the minds and palates of the Australian beer drinker"
When the f--- was Lowenbrau BUL?

I've been bottling and brewin' today. I drank some of the No.63 APA out of the fermenter and it was delicious. I'm now having a No.58, also an APA. It' was brewed in 2008 and is tasting a bit long in the tooth. Lucky it's the last bottle

Had a Golden Ale yesterday, based on DrSmurto's famous recipe, but using all Cascade hops.
Also had a Wicked Elf Pale Ale.
Mrs warra said she preferred mine, as it had more flavour.
Having said that, the Wicked Elf is still a very nice beer.

Partial mash dark ale with Fuggles. Lovely beer. We just got home from dinner in Lygon Street (why would you want to eat there, I hear you say. But we'd been to the movies to see Snowtown, so we were surprised we felt like eating). Being a good Italian restaurant the beer options were restricted to wonderful brews such as VB, Pure Blonde, Crown Lager, etc. I opted for a James Boag's. Sorry, but I just don't like it. I think it's one of Australia's most average beers.
Cheers,
Oliver

Had a few beers with the lads last night for the headwetting.
Rye golden ale with homegrown Victoria hops - the megswill drinking mates couldnt get enough of it. I over did the force carbing but they were so happy with it they happily poured pints of foam and let it settle for 10 mins before drinking it!
An english bitter that used my homegrown goldings hops. A nice malty bitter albeit a bit stronger than i normally make them (4.9%).
The oaked RIS was also appreciated as a nice night cap.
The Johnny Walker Gold wasn't too shabby either and went down well with a cigar or 3.

Yes, congratulations. I think that's the first we've heard of it here.
So, what variety did you get?

I didn't announce anything, not really my thing. Sneaking it in in casual conversation is more my style!
We have a girl (Grace - named after my late Nana), both Mum and baby are healthy so that is all i can ask for.
Personally wet the babies head a few nights after the birth with a 2004 Thomas Hardy Ale.
