Hi Mick,

each pair of poles runs North - South, the back fence runs East West.
North is to the left.

Dunno if thats the best angle, so if you're asking because you think I know what I'm doing, definately dont copy without doing a bit of your own research
I am hoping they will get heaps of sun there like that...

I can always move the poles later if i need to. They are only in as deep as the old tank rings, but bolted in place and braced, so it wouldnt be a huge job to rotate them if I needed to.

I am confused about the direction that hops should be trained to climb the bine...

Is it clockwise for Nthn, and anticlockwise for Sthn hemisphere, or is it clockwise for both ?
Have read conflicting information from Australian sources...

They will train themselves, no need for you to do anything at all except marvel at how fast they grow.

Not yet, I don't check the PO Box everyday and since we have no postal delivery here i don't always get everything immediately!

Had to look at the date I posted this.
29th Aug.
Cause one of my bines has just reached the top of my trellis all 3.6M or 12 feet of it. (measured & confirmed)
That's 12 feet in 7 weeks,
Considering that the first few feet are a bit slow, that's balistic!!

The poor bugger took a hiding on the weekend, we had gale force winds here all of Sat & Sun morning, a couple of bines came unravelled & snapped, a couple of others I managed to save by binding them onto their climbing string with another piece of string, the leaves are in tatters.

mind you it was interesting, standing on the second top rung of a step ladder, reaching above my head in that wind.
Any thing to look after my Hops!

Overdue an update on my hops

These were taken on the 25th of November. Given they are all now in their 3rd season (4th for the chinook) i am expecting upwards of 7kg wet per plant
