Ivanski,

Welcome aboard, I see no reason why not but it isn't my call. You should talk to the others to bring you on line and let you know where to go. As I am from Canada, I am not sure of the locations in your area. Follow the link to get a t and enjoy yourself.

Would be embarrassing not to have an entry from

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

Will commence at midday at the Parkwood Tavern (Parkwood, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia), midday AEST.
In the true spirit of a pub crawl, have every intention of then proceding to other "pubs" - at a minimum, the Dublin Docks, Runaway Bay, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia (chosen for two reasons, Guinness on tap, and getting ever closer to my home, which is also in Runaway Bay).
But, again true to the traditions of so many fine Australian pub crawls, we may not actually leave the Parkwood until closing: it is still selling the remnants of its Beer Festival beers at $2 a schooner, and they are currently featuring, amongst others, Nelson's Blood, so damnit, we may just stay there, and satisfy ourselves that others, at least, are crawling: paraphrasing Churchill (I think), they also serve who sit and wait (and drink beer)!

welcome gold coast - your plan sounds like a sensible one - we are now up to 98 venues - anyone got a couple more so we can crack the ton?

Pyssedas does having a crawl around fellow homebrewers houses count if so then a couple of mates and me can join the festivities
Start at my hovel, head to Moe's Tavern (the legend who brews in six fermenters simultaneously, ones liver knows not the meaning of pain until they have met this man) then to an actual bar, Joseph Alexanders (yes expensive but the piano lady can be sexy and if she isn't her abilities make up for it) realise cash has diminished after 2 drinks, hang around till free nibbles are exhausted the back to Little Boy Pauls Joint then my house to top it off.
As always this is the plan, in reality this is what will end up happening is the same as every other time:
We will all get to shitfaced to drive at my place, none of us will have any money for a cab, Moe lives at the top of a big hill, public transport drops us at the bottom of the hill, Joseph charges to much and is full of wankers in suits and Little Boy Paul doesn't even have a fridge so he sponges off others and the only time he has cold drinks is for 1 hr after he buys a flaggon of goon. So inevitably we will stay at my place and spill my homebrew on my couch till the wee hours of the morning.
This is the writ of the Baron, thou art truly blessed.

ready, set ...

Post by Pyssedas Heavy Industrial »

welcome to do that, but if you want there is already a crawl going around brisbane, as per usual check out the web page or send us a message and we can send you the phone number of our nothern nimble delegate. until then read on...

ready, set...

...it's go time. tee shirts have been printed, pubs nominated, tours planned.

all international crawlers who have requested tees - they're on their way team! we do hope that they arrive in time. if not, wear black and silver for the team on the day and in the new week, you will receive your shirts which will surely aid your recovery and be a precious token of your involvement with the soon-to-be notorious inter-continental pub crawl.

the website is now a little out of date. however, friday night we will send a word doc of all venues and cities which are participating, which you can print out and show off to fellow crawlers, friends, publicans and random interested (or disinterested) surface folk - this means that if you are yet to tell us your venues, we are but 24 hours away from finalising submissions for this prestigious event.

we now have over 100 venues participating - 47 cities, 18 countries. kickazz team!

we will do one final print run of teeshirts after the event, for those who decide late that they want momentos of the day. payments must be received by wednesday 1st june.

if none of this makes sense, email us at pyssedas@yahoo.com or check out the website at http://www.geocities.com/pyssedas/crawl_2005

all the very best from your loving team administrators from pyssedas HQ (somewhere in melbourne's super-terranial inner west).

Kind Regards and HUZZAH!

Northern Nimble Monkey

Queensland pubcrawl leg

Post by Northern Nimble Monkey »

The Brisbane leg is intended to take place at the venues listed below, all people have to bring is a good attitude and enough cash, money, readies, filthy luca, booty, pieces of eight or any other form of currency that can be used to purchase beer and the ferry ticket to get themselves around on the day.

Remember to keep in your mind that anthem from the immortal Chris De Burgh, DON'T PAY THE FERRY MAN, as we will be travelling by ferry between pubs.

The kick off for the great event is scheduled for 11am at the Regatta Hotel at TOOWONG, the rationale for the early kick off is simple:

(1) Our journey between pubs is to take place on the River Cat it only traverses the mighty Brisbane river every 20 mins so the last thing we want to do is make it impossible to fit in all the pubs.

(2) It would be advisable to get a few sherbets into us before we have to stop for lunch

The man you need to look for is me Warren, I will be wearing a brown baseball cap with a pig on it and can be contacted (for all those with vision impairment) on a mobile phone which can be given out on request

People are welcome to join us at any given pub of their choice all they need do is ring to find out where in the hell we are, that's if we are still able to tell our arses from our elbows and boy could that lead to some confusion.

LIST OF PUBS WE HOPE TO DRINK AT !!

1. REGATTA HOTEL: If you guys don't know where this place is you should be ashamed of yourself, and you say you like beer !! Handcuffs optional at the front bar for the lady's.

2. TERMINUS HOTEL Westend: a short walk from the ferry at SouthBank and we shall probably be the only people drinking in this pub, lots of ashtrays full of beer from the night before, just soak up the ambience of a pub that was full of people the night before.

3. PLOUGH HOTEL Southbank: ah, what can one say about craft markets, this pub is surrounded by one but far not, the beer here is always good and cold and they do a good old fashioned counter meal here

4. STOCK EXCHANGE & VICTORY HOTELS C.B.D: well, well, well, what needs to be said about these two pubs that hasn't already been said in the press, CHEAP BEER, yes these pubs pride them selves on the famous $5.00 jugs of Fourex and $7.50 jugs of Bundy & Coke.
ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE !!

5. MERTHYER BOWL CLUB New Farm: the now famous bowls club have, as most bowls clubs do, have beer at 1985 prices, the view is great beer cold and they do a good counter meal too. Don't forget to wear a shirt with a collar.

6. OXFORD 152 Bulimba: this place may be considered a bit swish by many but they do have there own micro brewery and they have been know to hold the odd home brew competition so you gotta give the post, post, industrial new wave architecture a go.

7. HAMILTON HOTEL Hamilton: the hammo on a race day, it doesn't get much better than that ! Even better the Doonben race club are trying to get all youth orientated by having bands play as the nags go round, Jimmy Barnes & Killing Hedi, I kid you not. Promise you wont have to drink Bacardi Breezers or Stoli`s to be hip !

8. BREAKFAST CREEK HOTEL Breakfast Creek: for those who came in late the breaky is a great place to finish good beer and steak if we manage to get this far. The walk from the Hammo will do us good but hey a taxi would be easier, less than mile more than a kilometre and one suspects it will be dark by then.

The trip home is your own concern but it is alleged that the public transport ticket that you need for the ferry is usable on the bus system in Brisbane and as a matter of course cabs should be pretty handy at most of the venues.

Play safe and we should all have a good day, the weather so far looks good, the idea is to have a good fun day, have a few good ales in good company and be part of this worldwide event so HUZZAH to you all and see you on the day.

Huzzah!

Post by Southern Nimble Monkey »

Well done Northern brother for your informative and entertaining guide to tomorrow's festivities in Brisbane.

See below for Melbourne's full listing, with notes.

yours from the gutter...SNM

1-Palmerston Hotel- cnr Kingsway & Palmerston Cres
In the early 1860s Lord Palmerston amassed a fortune importing the famous “parmesan” cheese, which still bears his name, to Melbourne - this pub is a fitting tribute to a great man. Not to be confused with the Pink Palace, across Kingsway (which offers a "Saturday Special $49.00 nude hand relief", if you are running early).

2-Rising Sun Hotel- cnr. Eastern Rd & Palmerston Cres.
A taste of Deep South Melbourne in the famous House of the Rising Sun! The only things you will need are a suitcase and a trunk, apparently. Sin and misery on tap.

3-Cricket Club- cnr. Clarendon St. & Thompson St.
Memorabilia galore to admire here, where the Don used to come to get blotto and fight after every MCG Test Match. Important- actual crickets, grasshoppers, locusts etc NOT welcome in the front bar.

4-Lewis’ Emerald Hill Hotel- cnr. Clarendon St. & Raglan St.
A short walk down the yellow brick road of Clarendon St. to the Emerald. This is a quiet old-school boozer, so no mucking round. Drink up and get out. Now. You’re barred, the lot of you.

5-Limerick Arms- cnr. Clarendon St. & Park St.
A pause to compose a special Intercontinental Pub Crawl limerick. Or at least a rousing song, perhaps to the tune of the Spongebob Squarepants theme, which we can sing/bellow for the rest of the crawl.

6- Town Hall Hotel- cnr. Moray St. & Bank St.
This place has somehow slipped downhill from its original position and is now nowhere near the Town Hall! What's the story? 10 points for each correct answer, judges' decision final.

7-Bell’s Hotel & Brewery- cnr. Moray St. & Coventry St.
Huzzah for Bells Brewery, where they make the scotch! Och aye, laddie, we'll have a wee dram the noo...what? Oh. Sorry, no, apparently this is where beautiful beers are brewed by intelligent women, and vice versa. Dream on fellas!

8-Maori Chief- cnr. Moray St. & York St.
Nothing to report. Sorry.

9- Golden Gate- cnr. Clarendon St. & Coventry St.
Just how did a pub in Melbourne get named after a bridge in San Francisco? It’s a long, sorry tale, involving a gullible landlord and a fast talking American conman with a bogus title deed in his pocket. And a suicide. Don’t dwell on it.

10-George Hotel- cnr. Coventry St. & Cecil St.
Windows could do with a clean. Looks like a good place to stop and watch a bit of footy. Also has pub TAB for horse tragics.

11-Market Inn - cnr. Cecil & York St.
Another in the "Pubs of the Commonwealth" series, this is mainly English-ish, due to the current plague of backpackers. Why are there no Canadian or South African theme pubs? Don't those guys drink or something? Discuss.

12- Southern Cross, cnr. Cecil St. & Market St.
The antique Haig’s ad on the wall gives this ageing bloodpit a raffish air. Despite the chic new umbrellas & cafe seating outside, don't linger after dark.

Then onto tram 112 up Clarendon St. and into the city for the grand finale/vomiting etc.

13- International Backpackers, cnr. Flinders St & Spencer St.
Bit optional this one- but anyway, after avoiding hideous decapitation at the helipad, why not slip in here for a cheeky $2.00 pot? They also run a backpackers’ job agency here, so your dream career in apple picking or IT temping may be just around the corner.

14- Waterside Hotel, cnr. Flinders St & King St.
Ah, if these walls could talk…they would spout a load of toothless drunken gibberish, probably. Recently renovated, and now said to be murderer free.

15- the Joint, cnr. Elizabeth St. & Flinders Lane.
Last one standing is crowned Drunkard of the Year, and moves into the semi finals. Huzzah! Enter chorus, all sing "It's A Small World After All", curtains close.

Details:
Start- 12.00pm at the Palmerston. Trams 3, 5, 8, 16, 64, 67 & 72 from the city all stop at Domain Interchange, a block away. Don't be late.
Melways map ref. 2K H3

Timing- ½ an hour per pub. No arguments, no time wasting. Get in, get one down you, then get cracking, we have a long way to go today.

Food- you will need to eat something. Most locals seem to exist on a diet of focaccia & coffee, but there are many other options. The famous South Melbourne Market dim sim is in season, and is easily caught using a net or the traditional blowpipe & dart. All the pubs to be visited offer expensive potato chips in ridiculous flavours like gingered oyster or goat cheese & ketchup. There is also a pie shop. Remember that citrus fruits are illegal south of the Yarra.

Can't wait Pyssedas

Must have quite a few coming on the Melbourne leg now.
Should be great.

Will give you a call if I can't find you by 12.

Love the Southern Nimble Monkey's rundown.
I fully intend to be "spouting a load of toothless drunken gibberish" by the Waterside.

melbourne leg

Post by Pyssedas Heavy Industrial »

it is quite scary - we really have no idea how many are coming to melbourne - should be an easy twenty - but could easily double that

just had to take a little trip through south melbourne to drop off some shirts - the whole suburb appears to be quite unaware of what is going to hit them

Well!

All I can say the (roughly) one pot at each pub thing gets you through!

Pity I didn't do that.
I don't know much about beer but I like what I know.
