I thought I was reading the script to Reservoir Dogs there for a moment. I'm with Mr Pink when it comes to tipping, but I do understand it is the American way.

As for the malt liquor, I purchased a few 40's when I was in the states just cause I'm a bad mo fo and I've gotta say I wasn't as disappointed in them as I thought I would be.

Hey guys, first post!

Other than all the usual suspects listed previously, I wish to make another nomination.

See we were getting a bit low on conditioned beer at the end of the Christmas drinking period, so we bunged a couple of Darwin Stubbies (a cub product iirc) in the fridge. Turns out the were 19 years old..

Like a bitter glass of foamy sherry. Pretty average. But we drank it all.

THAT was the worst beer in the world..

You were able to get it in Kegs when I was in Darwin 14 years ago. You would go to a party and be told don't bring any piss there will be a keg on.

You would get there and there was a keg alright but it was the same beer as in the Darwin stubbies and after about 10 of them you believed you were drinking something close to beer.

Back then it was brewed in Darwin by CUB now it is brewed in QLD by CUB and shipped to Darwin for sale. It is sold now stubbies only more as a tourist thing than a beer you buy to drink.

I have been told they have even stoped the Darwin stubby sculling comp that was run annually and the sculling champ the water buffalo from Humpty Doo has died and they have been stoped from training his replacement by the RSPA.

What have the wowsers done to a great outback town, as that's what it was then.

Wash the Darwin Stub and press it into service for homebrew. Brew a batch now in Darwins, and fridge 'em up for Christmas 2005.

Darwin Stubbies - An absolute crowd pleaser.

Cheers,

Greg.

Thanks guys- yeah they are now full of spirits that we brew- two of them and two long neck bottles for one batch from the still.

Once that is gone they are gonna be full of the worlds best beer- mine!

I have only been brewing for a couple months, but we love it up here. I am the experiental guys, and my father in law and brother in law are the by the book guys. They are pretty consistent now, but a couple of mine are pretty special..

Cheers

Many years ago when I was a crewman on P&O liners out of Southampton UK, quite often once a ship had reached Pacific waters it would run short on beer. The purser would cable ahead to the next port for emergency replacements. This left the company open to exploitation by dodgy agents, who would offload all the crap left on their hands. The public, after the first sample would refuse to drink it, so crew members were forbidden purchase of the remaining good stock and forced to drink whatever until it was gone. I guess they figured a drunken sailor would settle for any kind of beer rather than stay dry! The worst I ever encountered was loaded in Auckland NZ and had a number as opposed to a name. I cant recall the actual number as we used to refer to it as 1066, you know, The Battle of Hastings. After three or four you really felt you had been in a war!

Bob,

A fellow sailor

I know of what you speak. We were always drinking skunky San Mig.

"Drink it or be Thirsty"

If a beer would be refused in favour of (God forbid) sobriety then it truly would be a bad bad bad..... bad drop. Can you name one?

Greg
(Garrulous on a beer that should NOT be mentioned in this thread)

I reckon I'd rather drink nothing than Carlton Cold or Crown Lager.

(US) Bud and a crap new Australian beer called Pure Blonde come close to being in this category.

Cheers,

Oliver

Bugger me but my taste buds must be cactus.
Took my son to watch the Newtown Jets in a trial match( Despite being heavily involved in Union)and we drank the odd beer Tooheys New 'cos they didn't have Old.
Now drinking the much maligned Crown lager at $39.95 a carton.
I want the bottles to put home brew in but really i don't mind the taste.
Had a couple of Heinekens this arvo but the Crownies are better.
Should I hand in my piss pot badge because of this aberration???????

You can keep the Heiny. Even the Dutch hate it. Bad is at least better than shite. I think you can keep the badge LOL

Each to their own, but I think Crown Lager is a beer that is lucky to be able to call itself beer.

Fellow drinker, your last post ............. I will never again drink VB, and haven't for at least 15 years.
Fifteen years ago, 60 miles North of here, at a sheep station with the temp at about 45C I was told I must drink SOMETHING because nobody was going to carry me if I fell.
I should have peed through my sock half-filled with sand.
NEVER before, and NEVER again.

Good taste meets good manners head on.
The scene unfolds:

Arrive at someones place and are offered simply 'A beer'. You foolishly accept sight unseen - out come the green cans.

I think I would send back a San Miguel, but neck a VB while it is still too cold to be tasted properly, then ask for a cup of tea because I've got to drive.

San mig is even worse when it is served hot with a glass of ice to pour it into.

I would have to say Carlton Cold.

I used to drink it in my teenage years (not all that long ago now) and after one memorable session at a friends 18th I swore off it for good. Never again would it pass my lips.

I don't know what I was thinking. I never liked it in the first place.

Now, when I have the choice between it and water, or, god forbid, light beer, I choose the other option.

Indian beer, bought in India, is pretty wrong.
Kingfisher, 5000, 8000. Nothing there worked and I consequently spent 6 weeks without beer!!
I made up for it when I got back home though
