I don't often get the time but this weekend is it!
Going to try to make something like Innis & Gunn oaked aged ale.
All of my oaked beers have been Stouts or Porters so I have been wanting to try something lighter.
After being in the disgraceful and embarrassing situation of not having brewed since last spring and being without a single bottle of homebrew in the house (Millennium Ale and a couple of imperial stouts notwithstanding) these two bad boys are now in cubes, with yeast to be pitched this evening:

I brewed today, yay.
Light mild with a decoction, melba hops 20-10 mins, and my first decoction. Wlp ahs ale and wlp pacific ale yeast. Everything ran smooth as.

brewed an "APA" last month that I added roasted barley to, ended up a light bodied stout really and was amazing the first three weeks in the keg with the american hops, it then mellowed out to a tasty dark ale.
finally brewed out an altbier I had in a cube for 4 months, just maturing in a keg now. brewed with 1007 yeast.
threw another APA down with slurry of the 1007.
cooked up a smoked APA last night (twisted the daylights out of the roast barley apa recipe)
my first stout is going to be put in a cube in about ten minutes
fun times since I set up my brew rig in the laundry permanently, makes it much easier slap down a quick brew.
Been a while since I posted anything here.
I'm still brewing, and making the usual stuff ups.
Managed to mill my grain into the usual bucket, but forgot to take the lid off the bucket. It's not a lot of fun trying to recover 5.6 kg milled grain spilled everywhere.

After using a drill to power my mill for the last couple of years, I went back to hand milling on my original MillMaster. I'll be doing that in future, as the slower hand milling doesn't tear the husks and makes for much easier run off and sparge. I batch sparge, and once I'd set the bed, I could run it off as fast as it would go. Probably saved myself about 45 minutes on the day compared to what I had been experiencing. All I had to do was to cut the top of the mash to allow it to run off properly.
Surely someone is brewing?
I brewed last saturday.
Just a pale ale bill to 1038 with galaxy and Celia to about 40 ibu.
I got to play with my new herms as well.
