I have to say I was severely let down by the crew of drinklers for yesterday!!
It started with about 15-20 people saying they were in for the day, well that was last week before babies got sick and bosses said you have to work etc
. By the time the day arrived it was down to two of us! Well two can still pub crawl so I waited at my place as arranged for Rog to arrive, after all I have bucket loads of brew to get us started. AS I waited I had a few beers while watching Freo beat Geelong, damn fine result that, I averaged 2 beers a quarter! Still waiting for Rog at this stage! The time came to then switch to Foxtel for the Super 12 Final, only two halves here but still managed three bees a half! Rog finally arrives during second half (he'd had a nanna nap in the arvo), by this stage I've had about 12 beers, these are pints I might add of NZ Bitter at around 5.5%. Needless to say I wasn't really up to going too far by this stage. Did manage a quick trip to the Pen, but the cheap Japanese bladder fired up (drink one, piss three) and I baled out to go home feeling decidedly unwell!
This morning the little man with the hammer is trying to escape from inside my skull, I hope he does so soon before I rip the top of my head off and give him a hand getting out!
Just to put the icing on the cake I was attacked by some bloody cat while walking/staggering down my driveway, bloody thing jumped out and had a go at me. Even managed to scratch the $&* out of my leg before a size 9 1/2 boot sent it over the fence! Geez I hate cats! They should be fenced in at the owners place like dogs have to be! Bloody things are allowed to roam free killing birds and leaping out at drunks, it's just not right!
Well that's me done for now, time for a feed to settle the stomach, I feel bacon and eggs coming on! Then the V8's are on so a few more beers may be needed, might even get to the Paddo which was on yesterday's list, no one said the pub crawl only lasted one day, I just needed a sleep in between venues, must be old age.

good work nonetheless
well done grabman - although it concerns me that you are able to write such cohesive and long sentences this morning - i want to write a full account of melbourne's efforts - but just can't get my brain to concentrate on it for long enough

brain function isn't a problem this morning, both halves are working well, just not together!
my guts on the other hand is a different story, very shaky in that department

What a day folks,
Well done to all participants including the 2,000 that thought you were there to see a hockey game.
Alices: Long memory has that woman. She still seems offended at some minor issue that occured last Christmas. Drank Jim Brickmans finest.
Heuther: Yep fine, not finding to many party faithful here. Liked the idea of a pub crawl. Thanks for thi Lion Brewery T's
Doggers Deck. Gets no better, Dogger supplied Coopers Sparkling and Sausages on the Q. Nice. Gave out the T's and glasses.
Witts End: Nothing special, no big excitment, Ho Hum
Jack Asstors: Great, got right behind the plan, gave us free Fosters as it was an Australian do. Free food to. Nice touch. (didn't try to enlighten them, they were being nice)
Waltzing Weasle: Will never go back here again. Wouldn't let us in and called the police.
To make up for the Waltzing Weasle,
John Labatt Party Centre: This is set up for the Memorial Cup, the semi final was occuring that day. What a clever move. 2000 Canadians who wanted to party and arrived early to drink beer before the game, suddenly decided that hockey was just entertainment and the Pyssedas Pub Crawl was a mission. Got TV Coverage and everything. Many thanks to the Labatts crew to make this possible.
Finally Doggers Deck, More Coopers, steaks and all the fixings. Opened the beer cellar, Invited AA Milne and JK Rolling for the unveiling of Harry Porter and the Honey Pot. They didn't show however, many Thanks to Winnie the Pooh and Ehore for the appearance.
Final Assesment
1. Doggers, best food and drink, best overall
2. Party Central, most party faithful, could have been elected Prime Minister, beer was lacking but made up by volume
3. Jack Asstors, food Ok, free beer although was Fosters.
4. Heuther: Nice touch with the T's. wasn't expecting the Rippers. Been awhile since I was there.
5. ALices: Get over the grudge,
6 Waltzing Weasle: Stop being more British than the British.
Thanks to all who made it happen
There is one burning question:
Does a "Chook" ever turn back to a Chicken? I mean, do you have Chook and Chips? Do you go to the Grocery Store for a Chook or can it only be Chook if it was won in a raffle?
Thanks
Dogger

all i can say man is wow - kudos to you for being on board from the very beginning - and further kudos for organising what sounds like a full on day of silliness
i would love to hear more details both of your brush with the law and even more particularly of the hockey game - it sounds like you may have managed the largest entourage in the world - but we will wait for more reports before bestowing that title
i shall collect my thoughts and submit a melbourne review tonight - i believe the backlane brewery will do likewise - any of the other melb participants of the board should also post - perhaps collectively we can work out what happened - though as the last one to leave i guess it is unlikely that anyone can tell me what time i got home
the ficus remains intact

Hi Guys
I jumped aboard the Intercontinental, at the Parmy South Melb, with Oliver, the guys from Backlane and the amazing Pyssedas crew.
By the end of the day we had 30 to 40 on board.
It was a tough day. There was plenty of great pubs where some of us could have easily called it a day. Credit goes to our Pyssedas leader (the great and charismatic dg), he kept us motivated on the prize. The first floor balcony of the Joint in Elizabeth street. It's all a bit blurry near the end.
Personal highlights were sharing a beer with some of the players on this website, the camaraderie of the team effort and the Bell's Hotel brewery selection.
Thanks again to all who made it a particularly memorable experience and to the Pyssedas for coming up with the excuse. Will be keen to crawl with you guys again sometime.
Cheers
BK.

Oliver in the flesh
Yeah it was a top day, full report on it's way soon. DaGr took lots of pics, too.
One thing I found extraordinary was getting to meet Oliver- he seems quite meek & mild here on the website, but you should have seen everyone's jaw drop when he walked in to the Palmerston...6 ft 4, bearded, full tattoo sleeves on both arms, facial piercings, the lot. I'm glad he was on our side!

Sorry for pulling the pin so early, guys (well, after 11 or 12 pubs, if you can call that early!).
As well as having had a skinful, I was also mindful of the fact that I had told 'er indoors that I "wouldn't be late".
Normally a leave pass is a leave pass, but she'd had a crappy week at work and we hadn't really seen each other.
So I headed home, picked up pizza and pasta on the way, ate dinner and we spent some quality time together (I was passed out on the loungroom floor while she spoke to her relatives in Perth on the phone
)
Thanks to all that made the day possible. It was great to meet you all. I'm already looking forward to next year.
Cheers,
Oliver

Re: Dogger
Ficus Carrying Tip #1the ficus remains intact
If you're carrying Mr Ficus between the 14th & 15th pubs, it's best not to yell out "Go Collingwood!" at a passing bunch of disgruntled Hawthorn supporters.
The ficus survived the impact.
I don't know much about beer but I like what I know.

dawg waterer
Thank you for that important safety tip. The essence of which had eluded us this weekend, and could have lead to some rather serious altercation.
Fortunately for Ivan the Flatulant and the Flying Dutch Treat there were enough Green and Gold to subdue the Blue and White and the Red and Black should hostilities have arisen. Additionally, we were trying to be non-partisan but sometimes even the best laid plans go awry
I will pass on these words of wisdom in case of future encounters. I find it always better to learn from others adventures if you can.

confusion in Canadia
Dogger my northern friend, you obviously did not heed my warning about exposing your cranium to the Northern Lights! May I suggest lining your woolly hat with some tinfoil or perhaps lead sheeting, to stop further penetration of mind-altering rays from the aurora borealis?Does a "Chook" ever turn back to a Chicken? I mean, do you have Chook and Chips? Do you go to the Grocery Store for a Chook or can it only be Chook if it was won in a raffle?
Admittedly in our great land it can be confusing when spiders, snakes, sharks, playtpuses, echindas and crocodiles all hatch from eggs, but rest assured, if it comes out of a chook egg, it is a chook, and a chook is a chook, now and forever, amen. It will never become a duck, or a northern crested grebe, or anything else!

ahhhhhooooohhhh
huh?
Thats what I said, a chook is always a chook. Some believed it was different. As no one wanted to listen to me, I figured I would come to the experts seeing you all know about chook raffles. We have meat raffles here.

Dogger, as always I am pleased to provide you guidance.
I remember my visits to your country fondly. Someone needs to tell the customs staff in the handsome and efficient trans-border tunnel that not everyone fleeing the hell hole of Detroit is an American! They were flummoxed every time by my exotic paperwork and exqusite manners.
In my role as patron of the arts, I often visited various modern ballet companies housed in the lovely village of Windsor Ontario. However despite my many generous contributions, the young lady artistes never seemed to be able to afford full costumes, and those they did have fell off at the slightest opportunity. This is a disgrace, and one I trust you and your many drunkard friends are working to put right. $10 into the g-string at a minimum, my friend!
