Czech pilsner- Is it ok?

Hey,
Just put down a bit of a concoction: A Brewcraft czech pilsner with 500g wheat malt extract, 500g dry light malt and 500g dex. Added 12.5g saaz hops and used kit yeast. Took initial SG reading and adjusted for temp and it's at 1050. I'm a newbie, but it seems really high to me... Am I gonna end up with a 6.5% pilsner?? I'm really hoping not, i was after something refreshing for summer....Also, what temp range should I be trying to keep this one? 20-22 or lower? Not really sure on the type of yeast contained in the kit.
Cheers
John

Was the Brewcraft czech pilsner one of their converter kits or the tin of wort? What was the tin of wort?

Just a 1.5kg tin of wort....

My guess is adding 1.5 kg of malts and sugars to the kit is aking for a stronger brew....
It'll be a nice one though.
I find them (pilsners) easier to drink than the ales in heat. Let it mature well in the bottle (to mellow the hops) and keep the temps down if possible. Below 20c is better IMHO.
There are a couple of good threads on this forum for temps with Lager yeasts. (past 6 months-winter brewing temps).
The one I put down 6 months ago with ESB Pilsner, saaz, and malt
- was the best yet and turned me into a hop head!

Have a good read of this introduction to Lagers on Micheal Jacksons website (not the singer!) I found it cleared up many questions I had...

It should be a nice beer at around 5.5%. You will find you will have a higher than normal Final Gravity as well due to the malts used. It should have a good body and head and go down well.

Sorry I do not know what type of yeast comes with the brew craft kits.
