Cooper's Bavarian Two Can Brew

Hey Guys,
Managed to pick up a couple of Cooper's Bavarian tins for cheap and am after people's opinions on how it would turn out if I threw the 2 tins into a batch and added nothing else, topped up to the 23L mark?
Anyone done this with the Bavarian before? Expected result?
Cheers,

I did the recipe in the cooper's leaflet, the "Light German Bock" which calls for 2 cans and a kilo of LDME
im not that keen on it and it's been in the bottle about 4 months now - it's probably the doubling in bitterness that throws me off
i'd say it's better to use the cans one at a time, with the ultrabrew (as recommended elsewhere on this forum) and maybe some hops
personally i tried it just with the ultrabrew (500 light malt, 250 maltodextrin, 250 dextrose) and it turned out really quite nice

The Bavarian Lager comes in at 21.5 IBU, adding 2 of them together in 23L of water with nothing else sends the bitterness into stout territory.

YG - I've done the "Burly Bavarian" (Coopers BE2 + 500g malt) before and it tasted quite nice but took quite a while to reach drinkable stage.
Think i'll try one with just the BE2 and make it up to about 21 litres this time and then maybe try a different approach again on my next tin.

sounds good mate,
maybe steep a few grains and boil with #2 kit and we can compare brews in a month or so.

I just bought a can and have 40g of Hallertau going spare. Any idea on a good recipe?

Just finished a keg of Bav Lager made up with Brewiser Brew Booster (500g Dex, 250g Light DME, 250g Maltodextrin), 400g honey and 15g Tettnang hops.
Was a very nice drop that went down very easily. You could sub the Tettnang for Hallertau and increase it to 20g.

I am tonight going to put down the following:
Coopers Bavarian Lager
Brewiser Liquid Brewing sugar 1kg
Dextrose 500g
Hallertau hops steeped for 10mins.
Any suggestions from anyone, or is that fine as is?

SC,
Maybe leave out the 500g of Dextrose, unless you are looking to arc up the alcohol level a bunch. Not sure what the Brewiser mix has in it.
Cheers,
Greg

Greg, I'm not totally sure either, but it says on the can, that it is the same as a kilo of usual brewing sugars. Thought I'd give it a go.
I'm adding the 500g to bring the alcohol up to about 4.6/7%.
The brews I have been doing with just the kilo of sugars come to 4.0-4.2%, a little unsatisfying, and thats the amount of extra dex/malt I have seen many others using.
Does that amount sound right, as long as the brewiser stuff=Kilo?

Most of the brews I've done with a Kg of fermentables & kit have come out around 4.5 to 5.2% alc. Not sure off hand what would cause the differences. Try perhaps 250gm Dex and 250gm Light dry Malt extract or 500gm of LDME to add some body and flavour to the mix.
Cheers,
Greg

I have agreed my alcohol percentages with those levels of sugar with simo on here. I am doing 23litre brews. Dunno what the difference to yours would be.
The brewiser liquid sugar says it adds flavour and body to the brew, so I have just gone for dextrose to add alcohol percent. Thanks for the ideas of malt and LDME.
Cheers,
scblack.
