red sorry if that reply was a bit terse as I was in a hurry when I posted it.The cheapest option I seemed to find was get a old fridge and change out the thermoatat for a another (try search for tobins) or get one of the aldoheat plug pack ones.Good luck

I just picked up the Jaycar kit - Coolmaster - today. Have started putting it together. Will let you know how it goes. It cost $39 all you need is a solder iron - super cheap - I think mine cost about $15 couple of years ago(Solder iron).
They also have a dual display digial thermometer inside/outside temps for about $20. Its the cheapest i've seen all up.
If your brewing to save cash it might be theway to go.
Like I said I'll let you know in a week or so - or you'll see my house on the news - Illicet brewry burnt down suspect electrical fault.
Cheers Jubs.

As long as it is not"HOMEBREWER FRIED BY FAULTY FRIDGE WIRING!" Just a warning to all you do it yourself sparkies out there, we tend to take the stuff for granted, but some of the simple mistakes can lead to a lethal situation, believe me, some of the stuff I have seen makes me wonder how we don't see a lot more people fried, find out if you have an RCD (safety switch) on your place for a start or better still, see if you can con a sparky into checking it for you, most of the sparkies I know don't mind a few beers so you should be able to find one who will do it for you for a couple of beers!! (Test it that is)

Ash,
No. The one I refer to is the Kit one. You have to make it yourself.
Before I go any further, I should fess up. I am a sparky and Ross is completely correct. We are extremely partial to a beer. He is also right about the RCDs and stuff.
As far as the law goes, having inspected the kit you do need do be an electrician as it involves performing work on 240V stuff. I am VERY supprised that the instructions have no warnings about the legalities and such. There is a skull and cross bones in one or two spots an notice to tell you the unsuspecting novice that electricity is bad.
Sorry if I gave you false hopes and dreams..a few beers should heal them though.

thanks all for your help.
I am getting the coolmaster kit, which btw is really hard to find on the jaycar web site unless you know the kit no. - i will post this no. later as I can't remember it off hand.
I have an elctronics/electrical background so well aware of the dangers, which as you probably know is only ever learnt the hard way!
Ty, don't worry the only thing that offends me is being offered the choice between a warm beer or a girlie drink.
cheers.
