Coopers Bitter Brew...

Well MRs Oscar busted me making another brew @ 3am on a work night and got the sh*ts as she has a heap of friends coming over tomorrow & reckons the fermenter in the lounge is an eye-sore & makes the room stink like beer.
So I had 2 options:
1> Throw it out, or
2> Leave it in the shed for 48hrs - I took this option.

If I bring it back in after 48hrs of being outside at around 12-14deg celcius, does it have a chance of fermenting @ tasting normal in the end, or should I cut my losses, tip it out & start again??

Inside has ducted heating and sually stays at 20degs C.

Feedback most welcome!

Let it brew away.

Also, that "makes the room stink like beer" comment, does she think that is a bad thing?

Cheers,
Greg

Mrs Smabb also has similarly wierd ideas........

As "Uncle" Oliver has said so often "don't worry". Definitely don't chuck it but you will need to get it warmer. If the house is off limits blankets or something.

I must be a lucky bugger, I am allowed to put my fermenter on the kitchen bench, in full view

Can't you squirell it away in the laundry or bedroom wardrobe?

I just racked my beer (a bit earlyas it has worked out). It lives outside in the shed wrapped in a few towels. The temps are 0deg -17 in the day, and it is still doing it's bubbling.

What you need to do is just give the wife the same ultimatum I did......'you'll go before the fermenter and beer does".

Worked a treat. She went and i kept the house, the dogs and the beer. Found new wife that understands the importance of brew.....her dad is a brewer.

Oscar, dont throw it out ! It probably started fermenting anyway, albeit very, very slowly.

Get it up around a good ale temp, say 19 - 20 degrees. If you get no fermenting action, remove the lid and give the lot a bit of a stir with a sanitised spoon, be quick, get the lid back on.

Im sure it will be fine.

Thanx guys, you "de-stressed" me. The brew has now taken pride of place in the lounge again & the temp is rising again! :P

Wazza, I like your style. My wife was given the same ultimatum: Let me take all the necessary time to brew, drink and sanitise or else I'll buy commercial beer and there'll be no dinners, new clothes or weekends away. She now buys the kits for me. One day I'll let her know what hops goes with what kit and make her get that too!

Way to go cider.....mine just buys the kits. i like to pick what hops i want and what brewing fermentable to go with which.......all she wants is the occassional Ginger Beer or Cider and I got an old fermenter of a mate to brew those for her.

Looks like you are in a win win situation like me.
