I had a mate who was raving about Tiger Beer.

Anyone have the low down and/or a recipe

Was he raving on about it or did the raving start after he'd consumed it?

It's from Singapore, I think, isn't a bad drop but not the best I've ever had. Nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd.

after which he was harping about Red Back or Red Label or some such thing from the Land Down Under. You guys know much about that? (He said the only good beer was 4X down there to). but he also likes Carling Black Label here as well.

This all came about from me bragging about my Coopers Sparkling that Santa brought me over Christmas.

The best I found about Tiger was that it was brewed in Laos

I put 4x in the same category as VB, it's crap!! It comes from Queensland, the reason they call it 4X is that they aren't smart enough up there to spell beer!!! (Tongue in cheek to in and Queenslanders out there )

He likes carling black label! It's not noted over here as being one of the greats. Far from it in fact, I would class it with Fosters and that ain't good.

mmmm Fosters, a clever ploy by the marketing types to sell a crap beer. Promote it o'seas coz no one in Oz will drink it. Tell all the poms that it's a top beer, with 50 odd million people someone is bound to fall for it

My dad drank tiger beer in India when he was a young lad, had it again recently and said it was not the same beer. I wasn't impressed to much either tasted very run of mill.

Red Back is a good drop has that quality finish to it modeled after wheat beer but lighter and more refreshing

Unfortualty I can't drink 4X or XXXX as it's spelt. In victoria the only crap beer we are allowed to drink is VB. Personally i think 4X, VB and Fosters all come out of the same pipe they just slap a different lable on. I love going to queensland though there is more then one thing that is bubbly, golden in colour has a firm body and long lasting head.

Carling is not noted as being great over hear either although they made a great drop called Diamond as I remember form my childhood, although I had limited knowledge then. I didn't say this guy had great taste. I kind of think he was talking through his hat anyway.

On a brite note, I just purchased another secondary bringing the total to 30 gallons on the go at any one time. I am going to make mead in the 19 litre fermentor and as this needs to be aged for months I figured I should spend some of my lottery winnings on myself for a change and really turn it up a notch. Am thinking a couple of used Corny Kegs wouldn't go amiss either (came out ahead 200 dollars this week).

Additionally, now that I am convinced the infection is gone and I have a good ready use supply of homebrew, I am stepping back into all grain brews again starting next week, at least partials.
