Lagers for an Ale man.

I'm an ale man. I enjoy the odd lager now and then but a good lager never stands up against a good ale in my oppinion. Anyway, I can't afford to get a heat belt at the moment so I figure it's lager time.
My question is, what lager would you guys recommend to a guy who loves ales? What's the recipe?
I love maltiness and bitterness and the complex flavours of ales. I don't like lagers that seem to act to destroy the natural flavours of malted barley and hops. Give me your good lager recipes!
Cheers fellas.

Try your standard recipie, except sub an SAFLager S23 in for the normal Ale yeast.
Cheers,

I'd do a pilsner. Perhaps a Coopers Pilsner, which comes with a lager yeast. Add 500g malt and 500g dextrose (or 750/250).
Nice and easy and should be fairly bitter and malty, particularly if you use 750g malt, or even a little more.
Cheers,
Oliver

An all malt Pilsener also sounds nice

saflager s-23 as above is a good answer - gives a slightly fruity taste, so more charachter, and can cope with the more 'natural' temp swings you will get (as opposed to a brew fridge).
