I got 30 PET bottles with my brew kit but plan on using glass in the future is it ok to use them for my first brew? does it change the beers charactheristics? does it keep for as long? the video said the bottles "come sterlised" how can that be?

leamos, they've never been used and are hot moulded/extruded when made, that's how they make this claim.
I would however sterilise and rinse them before use, you never know how long they've been sitting around or what's crawled into them!!
As for storage, beer in PET Bottles won't keep as long as in glass, so don't aim to cellar you brew for more than say 8-9 months in plastic.
I use a mix depending on what brew I'm doing, glass for stouts etc, PET for the take outs so I don't lose the glass and then Keg the majority becouse it's easier and tastes better.

Is it possible to rebottle the beer from PET into glass after it's been conditioned or will it go flat.

I wouldn't try rebottling from PET to glass. Once you open the bottle you release the co2 from headspace and liquid is no longer same under pressure, just the same as when you open a soft-drink bottle it will go flat quickly.
not sure but maybe if you had to do it you may add a little sugar to bottle to "gas" it up again.
Maybe a wiser head than mine can add some light on this idea.

There is no reason you can't but it is a lot of work and risk for little pay back. Leave it in PET if it is already there

I made one batch that I put in the cooper's bottles and it turned out fine, but since it was the first batch, it didn't last long!
Now I just use them when I'm making a ginger beer so I don't use up my good crown seal bottles.
