Am about to put down a Country Brewers Xtract Pilsner with the above yeast and wondering if anyone has used it before and what it is like?
The brew is going to be:
3kg Xtract Pilsner kit
150gm of steeped Pilsner grain
15gm Saaz pellets dry hopped
WLP801 yeast
make up to 20 litres.
What do you think guys? The Guy at TCB advised that I drop the hops from 20gms as the kit is heavily hopped, but I am a bit of a hop head and love Saaz so thought 15gms but maybe will drop to 12gms if need be.

I agree the kit is well hopped, I don't even add any and brew up to 23 litres and find it just perfect. I like a big beer as well.
Though, sorry can't answer your reast question...

Wassa,
I don't s'pose you could do two batches the same except do one as a 'control' batch with Saf W34/70 and let us know?
Cheers,
Greg

Good idea Greg.
I'll make this one up first and then do with W34/70 next time.
Will give me something to compare. Last time I made it I used S23 and it was sensational.

Save a few of the S23 ones for a three way compare.
What yeast does it come with? The standard yeast with the Wals Pilsner is a good yeast, is it the same?
Thanks,
Greg

Greg.
Comes standard with the S23, same as the Wals.
Can't do a 3 way taste because I drank all the S23's earlier this year.
Will do a 2 way test though and let ya know.

Great idea you came up with!!!!!!!
