Has anyone had a go at making chilli beer succesfully? Any good recipes or ideas for me to start with?

I dropped a single chilli in a few longnecks of a Coopers Pale Ale kit I made..
Not something I could drink but quite interesting to watch people's faces when you give it them!

No recipies to share, but most experiments with chili seem to end in tears.
Has anyone here had a positive chili experiment?

I made a Cerveza and put chillis in about half of the bottles; turned out too spicy even for the girl I know trying to grow her own Habanero peppers, though she did try it about 6 months after I brewed it.

I am thinking of putting the chilli's in primary so there is no evidence present when my mother in law drinks it
I will let you know if it had the desired effect

The only problem with that is that you ruin a whole brew instead of a couple of bottles.
I hate chilli beer.

I cant understand why you would want a beer that tastes like chilli, sort of defeats the purpose of having a nice refreshing beer doesnt it?
Any way im not much of a chilli fan at all so my opinion could be a little biast
P.S at least you would get pissed quick as your mouth would be so hot you would have to drink more

Chillies in the primary makes the beer taste like capsicum! That was my mistake.
The flavour mellows out over time though.
Next time I'll put dry chillies in the secondary (bashed up with the mortar & pestle, then into a stocking) just like dry hopping.
Shagger.
