Hi guys i'm a long time reader first time poster. Just wondering what you guys think the result of this frankenstien of a beer will be like, i.e. alcohol content, taste wise etc....
Here are some of the ingredients i used:
. 1 Brewiser Lager can (3 years out of date)
. 100g of normal brown sugar
. 500g of light dry malt
. 300g or there abouts of treacle
. 1kg Maltodextrin/dextrose mix
. 11.5g of saflager yeast
. another unknown yeast from an old coopers kit

i'm expecting an alco content of around 7%, but the taste i have no idea about!!! anyone ever tried anything like this before?

should be interesting although i have never used a kit that far past use by so not sure what effect this will have, maybe someone else can tell you more bout that! as far as the alco content i would say thats about right if not maybe a little higher!

use the 'old' yeast as a nutrient, there is a good thread on here somewhere.

i've used kits a year or more out of date with a 'fresh' yeast, no probs, just ends up a bit darker.

I agree with Yardglass.

I would definately be using a better yeast, something o at least Saflager S23 and use the old yeast as a nutrient.

Yardgalss gives you the good oil.

As long as the can is not corroded at all on the inside it is ok. Just darker the older it is.

Sounds like an intersting brew.
