A question. I know you don't brew beer to clear bottles, you use the brown ones, but can you brew alcoholic ginger beer to used softdrink bottles?

I know a few people who bottle into clear soft drink bottles & don't have any problems. The trick is to store them away from any light

Same with ginger beer, clear will work provided you avoid light

Look at the good ginger beers in the supermarket they are all bottled in brown glass

I use clear ones at a pinch..just keep them out of light.

Ive got a friend who bottled a batch of lager in 2L Coke Bottles and it worked fine. Bit hard to drink it all but yeah, ginger beer should be no different.

Apparently stout in coke bottles is good for taking to the cricket. But I've never tried it myself.

Just be sure you use proper soft drink bottles, a friend up the street from me used still water bottles for ginger beer, she had to pelt them out because the bottles didn't stand the pressure apparently.

I'm wondering if its possible to get some brown plastic bottles smaller than the 740ml that coopers make.
I am finding it hard to finish a whole long neck on my own, especially when i'm driving somewhere later.
The idea of 2L bottles of beer is Pure Genius though

Does anyone know of brown plastic bottles that come in a 300-400ml size?

I think there are a couple of brands of non-alcoholic ginger beer that might come in 375ml plastic bottles

But yes, light struck beer is bad, its the hop oils which are breaking down

Being 19 on P-Plates, I'll loose my licence if any alcohol is in my system. so its more a system of drink one bottle, wait 3 hours before driving.

It really limits my consumption, of my otherwise fantastic beer.

Its kinda strange, you're well on your way down the wasted path after 3 bottles, but it was barely anything to drink. Its f---ing Great!

on the subject of smaller plastic bottles, they can be a bit hard to find but but you can get 'Brewers Choice' ginger beer from coles supermarkets. you get cartons of 12 x 330ml (i think) for about 8 bucks.

They also have 1.5 litre bottles of ginger beer in brown bottles - fit two longnecks in for taking to the footy. they are on special most weeks for less than a dollar.

Those Brewer's Choice ginger beer seems like a good idea.
Just need to make sure the cooper's caps fit the lids then go ahead and buy 70 bottles for an upcoming brew.

the coopers caps are fine - i have used them before. They are all a standard size
