Here here Fairwell steve, you were a legend and the whole world will miss your enormous character

Steve Erwin, did so much for tourism in Australia. Love him or hate him he was a great bloke who loved our great country.
And more internationally recognised than John Howard

Couldn't agree more mate

I have to admit I was not a big Steve Irwin fan, but he was a great Aussie and a great representative for our great country.

I'll raise a glass to him and shed a tear for his wife and kids.

A tragic loss, but I guess, not totally unforeseeable. I agree, you may not have liked him - he came across as more Aussie than Aussie's - but you cannot fault his intentions or ambassadorism for Australia. No doubt his legacy will live on through charities that will be established, and quite possibly in his daughter's future career.

Anyone hear what Germaine Greer had to say about him. Talk about a bitch. Few tears will be shed when that cow dies.

Yes what a f$#%ing imbacile, the guy was a great person who did alot for this country and even if you didnt like him is it right to bag someone just a couple of days after their passing, if at all? Its people like her that give the human race a bad name all for getting a bit of attention, Charma will get her in the end

The man is a true legend and had no fear

What a shame to see the great man go down....again truly a legend.

I feel extremely sad for his young kids who will never get to know how fantastic he was. Bindi may just remember him, but atleast they have alot of videos to show.

Steve Irwin's death is being felt all around the world. I'm currently in Canada and the coverage he has recieved (all positive) has been enormous. Th.e legacy he has left for knowledge and respect for Australian wildlife will live on.

I play a multiplayer game on line a lot and the game got stopped when I joined as the russian admin wanted to check that the sad news was true and say how sorry he was,so was the german the ukrainian the dutch bloke and the yank That is what I call a abassodor for Australia.Sad to see him go

THE CROCODILES ARE CRYING



Endless visions fill my head - this man - as large as life

And instantly my heart mourns for his angels and his wife

Because the way I see Steve Irwin - just put everything aside

It comes back to his family - it comes back to his pride



His animals inclusive - Crikey - light the place with love!

Shine his star with everything he fought to rise above

The crazy-man of Khaki from the day he left the pouch

Living out his dream and in that classic 'Stevo' crouch



Exploding forth with character and redefining cheek

It's one thing to be honoured as a champion unique

It's one thing to have microphones and spotlight cameras shoved

It's another to be taken in and genuinely loved



But that was where he had it right - I guess he always knew

From his fathers' modest reptile park and then Australia Zoo

We cringed at times and shook our heads - but true to natures call

There was something very Irwin in the make up of us all



Yes the more I care to think of it - the more he had it right

Yes - he was a lunatic! Yes - he went head first!

But he made the world feel happy with his energetic burst



A world so large and loyal that it's hard to comprehend

I doubt we truly count the warmth until life meets an end

To count it now I say a prayer with words of inspiration

May the spotlight shine forever on his dream for conservation



...My daughter broke the news to me - my six year old in tears

It was like she'd just turned old enough to show her honest fears

I tried to make some sense of it but whilst her Dad was trying

His little girl explained it best...she said "The crocodiles are crying"



Their best mate's up in heaven now - the crocs up there are smiling!

And as sure as flowers, poems and cards and memories are piling

As sure as we'll continue with the trademarks of his spiel

Of all the tributes worthy - he was rough...but he was real



As sure as 'Crikey!' fills the sky

I think we'll miss ya Steve...goodbye
