I think the common consensus would be to put in:
1 tin Cooper's anything
1kg LDME
maybe some hops
0 tins Spicy Ghost.

Spicy Ghost
1kg Light DME / 1.5kg Light LME
10g Ground coriander seeds
Tetnnanger finishing hops
Ditch the yeast, grab a K-97 or a US-56

I do not rate the spicy ghost either.
I'd try the one NT Rabbit recommended with Coriander and a different yeast. The original is very ordinary, in my opinion.

The cascade can was a gift, so its best to use it in case the person who gave it to me asks to try it.
An old friend thinks I should keep it simple and use some Wheat Malt Extract with Coopers BE1.
Ive heard that its more a draught than a wheat, so i'll try turn it into a more wheat styled beer

I'm with drtom. I did this one as my number 9 brew I used
Cascade Spicy Ghost Draught Can
Coopers Brew Enhancer 2
500g LDM
I rate this as my worst beer, it tastes like calton draught, and is way over carbonated(this may be related to my priming method), also seemed a bit thin.
If I was todo the batch again, I'd proabably add at least 1.5kg malt, even a dark malt of some sort, and throw in some hops.

I brewed this about two weeks ago..... after reading this forum's negetive comments, and some talked it could be the yeast that comes with the kit, so I used the yeast from Brewcraft's Belgian Ale kit as I was using Safale s04 yeast instead at the time for the brewcraft's belgian ale, so tired make this.
Just used:
Cascade Draught Spicy Ghost Kit
Coopers BE2
350g Light dried malt
Yeast from Brewcraft's kit.
It was alright.... just almost close to drinkable, even thought it smelled pretty nice... but tatse is other matter, guess it may need a "long maturing season"
If this turns out to be sh*t in few months time, I would be embrassed of Cascade's HB products because I seriously love Cascade's Pale Ale whom I have been drinking for years since I was 15 or 16 years old about 12 or so years ago (I am talking about Cascade's Green label Pale Ale, not the Pale Ale kits).
Maybe we all need to write a letter to cascade brewery and tell them to change the kit's formula and yeast if there's a growing negetive reports.

If they were serious about homebrewing I would hope that they monitior forums such as this one for comment about thier product.
On the Coopers Club forum Paul from the Brewery freely admited that they follow forums for feedback. But then they've been producing good kits for many years.
Cheers,
Greg

Ok, I have a SG reading which confuses me quite a bit.
I put the brew on today with the following ingredients:
Cascade Draught Spicy Ghost Kit
Coopers BE1
1kg Liquid Wheat Malt (morgans)
yeast from kit
And somehow i got a SG of 1066!
Is this normal, or even possible?

Trizza,
I had a similar result today,
1 Cascade SGD
1Kg Coopers BE#2
Started @1060, held at 24C, hasnt bubbled out the airlock at all but SG dropping. The lid is tight, whats happening?

Only needs a pinhole leak. If the Gravity is dropping it is brewing.
Does it have the ring round the top and what was last reading?

Boonie,
Ring is on and i wet it before doing it up. The grommet is tight and nothing is leaking around it, (splashed a bit of water on it). Havent had any smell in the box, SG is @1015, brew looks a bit cloudy but smells ok.

I was going to ask if you wet the ring

....no ring jokes Lethal or Chris now in Canberra.
I found that if I pushed down on the lid whilst sealing, it did not always seal right.
Put it at a good height, wont hurt to stir it up a bit, try just to twist the lid. Get some one to hold the keg (Not the Tap

...been there) and give it a good nudge. I found that if half undid it and resealed again, it sealed OK.
The SG is telling me that all is OK. If you do not want to try and seal it, dont, I would not worry. The gas on top of the beer should keep out infections.

Rabby, I guess all you can hope for is that your brew didn't get infected, odds are you're fine, provided the room or place that you brew aint too dirty.
My gravity is dropping, but they're heaps of bubbling through the airlock.
I had a brew a few weeks ago like that, and then I just twisted the lid a few centimetres and it started bubbling immediately. It didn't turn out to be infected.
I suppose after the brew is finished you can seal the fermenter with air, and try to submerge it to see if you have any holes.
Let us know when you bottle, I'd like to have a rough estimate of how long this brew's going to take.
