I'm headin out to grab a coopers pils. today and i'm taking any and all additions into consideration. Maybe kit and kilo. I don't think honey would be good here. Sorry Dogger.

I did my Coopers Pilsener with:
1.5kg of LLME
20g Saaz at 20mins
20g Saaz at 5 mins
Primary for 15 days (couldn't rack so just bottled after this time)
Best brew I've ever made. It's the brew I use to show friends how home brewing can be better than imported European beers.

Just add 250g crystal.
You could also use 20g tett for 20 min as well as the saaz.

I'd skip the Crystal.
Saaz, Saaz, & a little more Saaz would be my suggestion.

Thx for the help guys. Been busy. Went down to hbs today and he had a Muntons Irish lager on for half price. Out of date, but he chucked in a saf lager yeasty. So pils next time. Maybe some hallertau with this one? Saaz is good. Cascade to strong for Bobby.

I did Coopers Pilsener with 20g saaz hops, 500g LDME and 400g dextrose. Turned out a treat! Maybe you could try all malt instead but just remember to add the saaz!

The Coopers Brewmaster Pils comes with a SAFLager yeast so try and keep the brew in lager tep range when you do it 8-12C.
Saaz Saaz and more Saaz with this one.

which morgans can did you use was it the normal pilsner or the export golden saaz one?
i'm thinking the normal morgans pilsner kit, the #62 thing, 20g saaz @20 mins, 20g saaz @5min and 10g saaz @1 min.
will this be good or is there too much saaz? what yeast comes with the kit? should i get a SAF lager?

Morgans golden export saaz - more than happy with it.
I too have done a stella clone via brewcraft shop in Heidelberg which uses a muntons premium pilsner - earlier tasting was a bit harsh but have hidden about half ready to go in late dec '06 as after 2 months was drinking very well - will do another load prior ready for Feb '07.
cheers,

Any help is good help for a Novice.
I have just put my first Lager down.
Coopers Brewmaster Pilsener
250g Multidex
1kg LDM
250g Dextrose.
I have used the Yeast under the can (as I have noticed on previous post that this is a good yeast).
This is about my 6th brew and it seems to be not fermenting like the others i.e. No bubling etc. I will be checking the normal changes i.e SG, Condensation etc.
It is sitting at about 14c.
Would this be normal to expect in a lager??
If all doesn't look good then can I add another yeast and which one would be good?
Getting better all the time with this forum.
Thanks in advance.

How long has it been since you pitched the yeast?

Saflager S-23 is a good one for beginners, but don't pitch it yet. Lager yeasts do take a while to kick off at 14°C, so give it at least 48 hours before you start worrying.

Yeah, cool. The next thing you should try is starting a new thread for questions like these.

Thanks for this. I put the brew down and had to go travelling for work. My wife gladely rang me and mentioned it had started bubbling after about 2 days. Very eggy smell although I have read this is OK.
I was thinking of racking it at the end of fermentation. When I transfer it should I do it through the tap or siphon it from the top. When I re seal it again should I put a little bit of Dex in to try and get rid of some of the oxygen in the top.

a pinch would do but tbh, i dont bother.
I find solutions of 4+% ethanol tend to be pretty good at preventing infections......
