I had just ordered this beer. Has anyone tried it yet?? What do you think of it?? Can you tell me is it a lager or ale yeast?

I bottled one a few days ago, so havent actually tried it yet.

It is Saf S33 yeast, brew like an ale. I pitched my yeast at 20C and it went off like a volcano after about 12hrs, after 36 hours it had all but stopped. I let it sit for another 5 days with next to no change in SG, maybe it dropped a point but . . so I bottled it. OG 1042, FG 1015 I had expected it to go lower but the reading was constant over 3 days.

Was this a stuck fermentation ? How do you tell stuck from finished ?


EDIT: Ive since tried a Hoegaarden which I did not like at all and a Redback, which I dont mind at all and was what I was hoping for. Both have the same aromatic bubblegum sorta smell, but the flavour is different in the redback, more beer than weird tasting fruit juice.

Its a nice drop, not as good as their APA or Oak Ale though.

Thats because they are quite different styles - Hoegaarden is a Belgian White Beer, while Redback is an attempt at a Bavarian Weizen.

I have one of these wetpaks waiting for next month.

This is the TCB wheat beer you mention ?
Im curious because Im sure I read somewhere that wheat beers were at their best drinking younger than most home brews.

My batch is three weeks in bottle tomorrow, but I havent tried one yet. I'll wait at least one more week.

I tried a bottle last night.
2 days short of 1 month in bottle and it was very nice.
A high level of carbonation and a great light straw colour, slightly cloudy when ice cold but cleared as the beer warmed up a bit.
I'll now try to resist drinking too many before Xmas, after my two suspected to be infected brews, my ready to drink stock for xmas is not great.

I'm thinking of getting me one of these wet packs too.

Is this stuff a wheat beer in the German or Belgian style? Is there a commercial brew that it is similar to??

Im not usre what style it is really. Im guessing more a german style as its pretty far removed from Hoegaarden, more like a Redback.
I had my second bottle tonight, in my new self modified beer glass, it was fantastic.
