I tried this recently and really took me by suprise - quite a nice beer and would be great to throw back on a hot day!

I've liked most of Cascade's beers but in SA the 'other' Pale Ale gets more attention and you rarely see the Cascade Pale Ale for sale (most liquor stores just have Premium Light and Premium.)

I've found most Cascade ales in Dan Murphys. Cascade beers are mostly good, but nothing spectacular. Including the pale.

The Cascade Pale Ale was/is my favoured commercial brew when I can't find Cooper's Pale for under $50 (it's a bit hard to find in Launceston!). It's one of the better commercial brews for around $40 a throw.

Not sure about the bottled version but on tap it seems to have a slight baby vomit aroma to it

I don't have kids, so I'm not familiar with that smell and so I probably missed it Another reason to put off having any rugrats for a while

I've had it on tap a couple of times in preferance to Carlton Draught. I think it was about $1 extra for the pint, well worth it IMO.

Aren't you talking about Cascade Blonde, blandy? That's what the Corkman has on tap, anyway.

It's a nice drop compared with Carlton or VB, a lager, but quite tasty, with strong citrus hop notes. Kinda like a mix between a lager and an APA.

I think CPA beats it easily, but it is still better than carlton draught.

Oh sure, I agree. All the Coopers products beat it, but beggars can't be choosers (or rather, you can't choose something that isn't sold there!).

Sorry to dissapoint you, rwh, but I was at PA's at the time, not the corkman (pub run between two Chemical Process Analysis lectures).

Hmmmm interesting, might have to have a trip there sometime. Noticed that PA's is back to CUB... I think it was just about the last hold-out from the LN takeover, or is the Queensberry still a Toohey's New shop?

BWS is selling Coopers Pale Ale for $40.00 / slab and they throw in a free tallie of Coopers Sparkling with it

I agree that Coopers Pale Ale is alot better than Cascade Pale, the Cascade is slightly bitterer than the Coopers but nowhere near that of LCPA (as you'd expect).

In all seriousness, how much does a carton of Cooper's Pale stubbies cost in SA? Best I have seen here in Tas is $46.

In all seriousness, best price I ever got was a year ago - $15 for half a carton. No joke.

These days, more than $37 is paying too much. Most of the time you can snag an extra longie for that price. Couple of months ago I got Carton of CPA with a 6-pack of Dark Ale for $40.

I had the Cascade after a couple of Tooheys on a night out.....

Needless to say I did not drink another Tooheys at that pub

I quite liked the taste.......

I stopped drinking Cascade Pale Ale a few years back after a few hangovers from relatively little drinking of it that took me close to (what seemed like at the time) death.

I haven't been able to even look at since then without feeling sick.

Perhaps I should give it another shot?

Hmmm that's interesting Oliver as I have not had 'a night' just on Cascade PA.

I'm sure everyone is always hearing stories like 'this beer gives you terrible hangovers' or 'this beer is great for the first few but the taste gets a little sickly' etc.

I think there's a strong case for a beer review being judged on the effects of a full night on that beer only!

For instance, Coopers Pale Ale not only tastes great, but it doesn't give you bad hangovers (not me at least). In this case it can probably be attributed to the added Vitamin B present in the yeast.

Getting back to the Cascade though, taste wise at least I found it to be highly inoffensive. Not as much character as some of the other PAs but not a bad drop.
