Stout:


Recipe:
Black Rock Miners Stout
150g Roast Malt Grain
1kg Dark Liquid Malt
1kg Light Spraymalt
10ml Liquourice Extract
20g Goldings Hops
Safale S-04 Yeast

It's my first brew with grains, and first Stout brew, but I think the Roast Malt Grain really comes through. Really nice brew.

Im a big APA fan and have been trying different kits based around 1kg of malt, steeped carapils approx 200g and the same mount dex, with lots of cascade, chinook and US 56 was originally trying to replicate lcpa Have been happy with most brews. Think next will be extract. Currently drinking esb fresh wort APA very nice!

I have brewed the lady liberty a few times now and its bloody beautiful and very simple ( as on the john palmer how to brew website)

3kg light liquid malt
250gm crystal grain ( steeped)
25-30gm northern brewer 60 mins
25-30gm cascade 30 mins
25-30gm cascade 15 mins
And i used an american ale wyeast 1056 starter

22 litre batch

Hey Lethal, what's the alcohol content of that?

I am interested in the bitterness of your brew Lethal, as I found my APA a bit too bitter at the end of the mouthful, and I only used 15gms of Nthn Brewer.

I have not calculated it mate but it is a mighty fine drop and not to bitter by any stretch of the imagination, my taste buds may be different than yours but i like an APA to be a bit on the bitter side

Notes: Used some Irish moss in the end of the boil.

it's one of my best so far, cant wait to get my all grains on tap.

got an APA wetpak on tap next to this one and I'm actually a bit dissapointed in the wetpak

I wouldn't mind trying that brew OldBugman, though I need a bigger pot than what I have as I havn't done an extract brew before. How long do you boil the malt and pilsner grain for, and with how much water?

I put the pilsner grain in a pot on the stove, brought it up to 155F(68c)
let it sit for about 45minutes to an hour then using a big strainer I pour the liquid from one pot to the next and back a few times filtering it thru the grain.

Then it all went into my big pot on the burner for an hour.
Pretty sure I did this one in my 29L pot but I used to use a 19L pot for my extract brews but wanted to give big pot a wirl as I had just gotten it.

OK, nothing to brag about - K&K.



Coopers dark ale 2 weeks in the keg - not bad, and draught 4 weeks in the keg

you can't really see anything about it cause the stein is plastic, but hey

Commercial for me over this xmas guys, but at least it is Little Creatures Pale Ale.

American double IPA at the moment. It's slightly passed it's prime - been in the bottle for approaching 3 months now & has lost aroma. But at 110-15IBU & 8.5% it's going down nicely after yesterday's over indulgence of Knappstein Lager, JS AA, & a few different type's HB pale ales... & come to think of it I think I even got stuck in to a few HB Bitter's aswell
