Ridiculously Bitter

Post by Beau »

I'm going to do a fairly pointless experiment to make the most bitter beer I can from a kit. I aim to make it simply undrinkable.

I was thinking a two can brew with no added fermentables and an arse load of Sticklebract hops. Final volume around 20L should do the trick.

I was wondering, how long is too long when it comes to boiling the hops to get maximum bitterness?

Can anyone recommend a stupidly bitter kit?

Any ideas in general?

Come on, I know someone out there has fantasised about doing something fun like this :D

Why - Is it just a sheer curiosity thing?

Why do you want 20 litres of undrinkable beer?

Purely for novelty purposes. It's great to see a friend who's face has been turned inside-out from one sip of this venom :D

I've got plenty of bottles, plenty of room, plenty of money, plenty of time, and plenty of friends/foes to feed my poison to

A hotel I was staying at in London had a competition in the house bar if you could down ten different stubbies of beer you drank free
Piece of piss?

The going was good til you got to a nasty syrupy German bottle of cack I wish I could remember the name (a Rauchbier?)none of tha Ozzers present could get past it and there were some seasoned pisspots amongst them

I don't recall bitter either, I just recall eyes rolling, gaging wanting to puke just plain bad.

Well, say 200g of Pride of Ringwood for 90 minutes aught to do the trick...

Also, keep the boil gravity as low as possible. Say, 1.020 or so.

I like your thinking Beau,

Are you just looking for bitter or say a touch of vinegar, a nice infection to top it off ?

I have a few people that always have told me they like it hot, well I just could not resist  ,

Coopers Draught
Kilo dextrose
1-1/2 litre of sliced Jalepeno peppers.

Anyone up to the challenge? So far 5 takers and no one could get past the third sip - makes your eyes water just smelling from the bottle

Woah

Why not make a half batch - ferment the beer in a food grade container, maybe 5 or 10L, that way you'll need less hops and you won't waste a whole brew - you might have lots of time but any time you spend on crap beer is cutting into your good beer-making time!
Coopers.

I'm with you Pale, why go to all that trouble to make a crap brew?...........might as well just keep some empty stubbies and piss into them, cap and chill and the jobs done!!

Forget the bitterness imo, just go the whole chili in each bottle and wait 3 nanoseconds for the reaction
excuse me... your karma just ran over my dogma.
