The Joy of a Brew Fridge

Post by OldBugman »

Well I gotta admit I took my time to get round to getting myself a brew fridge, mainly due to possible moving and unsure about space or if I could actually build a coolroom in the new garage, but for now I just gotmyself a 140L fridge and with some mods to the door and a fitting a of a digital thermostat it's away.

No more worrying about how hot it got during the day in the heat. It's one less stress to live with.

people think they have it bad don't they. a lot of us worry about the temp of our brew. people just don't understand how important the temp of a brew is. good to see you can now relax. if only people understood how important a brew fridge was..........
THINKING IS THE HARDEST WORK THERE IS. THAT IS WHY SO FEW PEOPLE ENGAGE IN IT!

What sort/size fermenter can you fit into it? Which brand is it?

I've been wanting a fridge, but am vascilating because I am not sure which one would fit a Coopers fermenter and not be a great white whale.

well my bucket fermenter fit with no mods, but I had to put something in there to raise it so it didn't hit on the bottom of the door moulding, but my coopers didn't fit because it's fatter.

I removed the door lining and chiselled away some of the foam insulation and then cut up the door lining so the moulding along the bottom was gone and the area where I chiselled no longer had any lining.

Now both fit in no worries(one at a time).

My 2 cheapo Bunnings ones fit with no dramas at all.

Ah, the brew fridge, what a great asset. Over 30celsius here at home today, brew is sitting sweet at 18celsius.

You'll get away with 22 for Ale.

I'm getting a second fridge on the weekend

It's huge!

It'll fit two fermenters no problem and I don't know how many kegs - possibly six.

It'll give me the ability to go down the keg route or make doing two or three brews at once!

And best of all it's free!

Sweet!

Cheers

Try as I might, I can't ever find the Free Fridge Shop.

Mind you, my requirements are a bit special given my house. Perhaps this weekend for me too!

Meanwhile I am building my own fridge controller using a Basic Stamp and some bits that are lying around (or will be once I buy them).
