Exactly.

Even in the non-hooligan section of the Southern Stand that I was in there was one guy throwing a couple of empty coke bottles around. Police and security were onto him very quickly. They had an officer near the stairs there within about two minutes, and another two ther after about 5-10 mins to escort him out of the stadium.

Good thing too, people were getting hit on the head.

Even the authorities in charge have admitted that the wave is "a bit of harmless fun." Perhaps allocated seating for the whole stadium would solve this. They do this in Italy for the soccer: if you're spotted causing trouble on camera (which is pretty easy to do), you get fined the next day.

That said, allocated seating would pi55 off a lot of customers that weren't causing trouble.


... Now the beer quality and prices at the cricket ... THERE'S something that should be outlawed! $5.40 for a cheap plastic cup of Carlton Mid. It's stout in coke bottles for me next year!

i was watching but dont remember a whole lot about it today, a mixture of heat, cricket and about 500 litres ( not quite) of my best HB and whalla the day disappears

I think it's good - the Aussie team is a little too used to winning easily IMO & sometimes start to fold when they actually get put under consistant pressure.

I think that match will have hopefully fired them up, but even if they loose the series now I wouldn't mind. It'll be a huge incentive to dominate at the world cup - just as the '05 Ashes defeat perked them up for the recent series.

Also, the poor poms need a little confidance, they aren't as bad of a side on paper as they've played lately - cricket is a hugely mental game after all. I had expected the Kiwis to be the ones giving us a touch up in the finals but I'm not dissapointed with it being the brits.

Just my 2c. I regularly talk out my arse but that's my opinion for what it's worth.
