Bock

Post by erik »

Hey All,

I was thinking of putting down a Bock.
I haven't done one of these yet - I've had a search and got some ideas.

Here is what I have planned.
1 X 1.8kg Can Muntons Bock
2 X 1.5kg Liquid Dark Malt

I have a tin of Morgans Caramalt - should I add this or should I wait until I get some Choc Malt???

I don't have any Hersbrucker hops and the last time I was at the HBS - they were out of stock. Is there any other hops that I can substitute
But the schedule I was thinking of was 15g @ 10minutes & 25g dry hopped.

I'm really just modifying a recipe that I have come across (no doubt on here - so heads up to the owner)

Any suggestions guys - I've got a lot to learn..........

Consider the Grumpys Bock kit, its excellent, one of the best brews I have made :)

maybe just one can of dark malt and one of pale malt as it may turn out too dark in appearance and flavour. Use a good quality yeast and make sure you use enough(2 satchels or make a yeast starter). A saflager or bavarian lager yeast are good options.
Sounds like Beer O'clock.

And consider some Wyermanns black carafe malt if you can get it. It works a treat in bock.
