Old Bottles?

I have got around 6 dozen old style long necks (no bloody screw tops) which I got off my old man. They are all around 15 to 20 odd years old but are in good condition and cleaned up easily and look good. I have used them in a couple of brews.
My question is does anyone know of a reason not to use old glass bottles. I mean as long as they are not scratched and are clean and sterilised can you use them indefinitely?

yep
if they're not tinted brown, they're likely to let some UV light through though, which can skunk up your beer a bit. if that's the case, keep them somewhere dark

Most people would give their "left one" for old style beer bottles. The older bottles are usually the best.

I've used bottles that I've found in the bush, some dated in the 1950's. Just watch if they are really old that the bottleing tube thingee fits down the neck. Basically if the bottle is clean and visibly intact then go for it.

I scored a few hundred bottles a while back dating from the 50's to the 80's - although the year stamps disappear in the late 70's / 80's
An old Italian lady was getting rid of all the bottles she'd used for tomatoes and wine - so I gladly took them
Cheers
