What would be the best kit beer recipe to do for a party? I like my ales but most of the people i know drink the mainstream beers like Crowns or Tooheys. So to keep everyone happy i need to fill a couple of kegs of beer that will cater for everyone. What is the best kit brew to do that all of your mates have enjoyed? The party is at the end of March so i havnt got too much time.
All help would be appreciated.

If you just want a cheap and inoffensive beer, just get a Cooper Lager kit, 1kg dextrose and chilled down to 0-1C.

i'd do a coopers lager as mentioned, or maybe a coopers bitter with 1kg of BE2. might be a bit too bitter for the crown fans though

My commercial beer-swilling friends absolutley loved my last 2 batches of Brewcraft Munich Lager.

Very innofensive, but great served cold. Hey, I'd enjoy one of these on a hot day!

Try a Coopers Draught with a bag of Ultrabrew (500g LDME, 250g Dex, 250g Maltodextrin) and your favorite aroma hop tea bagged in. The kit yeast is quite serviceable for a quaffer, or you can try either US56 or S23.

I've got two sorts of mates, beer-wise.

The first lot seem to prefer beer that doesn't have a definable taste. They are happy with Melbourne Bitter, Australian-brewed Stella and Crown Lager. They seem to like Coopers Pale Ale with BE2 and the kit yeast, but don't love my more flavoursome brews.

The second lot fancy the Mountain Goat, chase the 3 Ravens and are happy to spend time in places like James Squire's next to the Portland. They like my Coopers Pale Ale, but drink it quickly so they can move onto my other brews...

I reckon either go the CPA, or educate the bastards! I guess you could do both.

My suggestions (assuming that you don't want to go through all the temperature control crap to get a lager):

1. Mountain Goat Hightail clone
2. Hoegaarden clone
3. Wassa's Honey Porter

I did a Hoegaarden and a Honey Porter for the end of semester celebration of an orchestra I play in and they were all gone before any of the Carlton Draught was touched.

The Hightail is pretty universally appealing, the Hoegaarden is good for the chicks, and the Honey Porter everyone just seems to love!

Wanders Draught tin (about $8 from my local Coles supermarket at the moment). 1.3kg of Coopers BE2. Make up to 24 litres. It comes out at about 5.5% and costs you less than $20 all up.

That'll keep the party swinging.

Agree with the lager suggestions (whatever tickles your fancy). Every three months I have a gathering. The most popular beers were lagers and a Hoegaarden clone.

Also suggest an IPA or Boonies LCPA recipe (see the recipe section).

This attempt at a Tooheys clone went down well with the relatives.

It is very mild beer that will not offend people with bland tastes.

Not too sweet and you can still taste the malt.

Damn, i think i might have to buy more kegs. They all sound good to me.
I already have a coopers pale ale in he fermenter ready to go so im glad that was on some replies as i havnt tried one yet, only the real stuff.
The coopers draught as suggested sounds like a good alround beer and easy to make.
Does anyone think this is overkill worrying about brews when it is all for my sons 2nd birthday party!! I know the lads will still be there well into the night so i best be prepared!
