Have a few beers waiting for me in the fridge at home. This is my 2nd brew ever which is ready to drink.

Coopers Canadian Blonde
1 KG BE1
500GMS LDME

I am really looking forward to it. This will be the first home brew I have ever tried that is not made with a KG of sugar. My old man used to make them and i wasnt fussed on them at all.

My first one from the kit which was the Lager and the brewing sugar was pretty drinkable. Much better than a VB or a New but not the best beer I have ever tasted.

I have in the fermenter at the moment

Coopers Traditional Draught
1.5 KG Liquid Wheat Malt
2 x sachets of cascade yeast boiled for 10 mins
2 x mixing spoon of honey
Safale S04 Yeast (I think)

Will bottle this one on the weekend as it has been in the fermenter for 2 weeks now.

Hopefully these will taste great.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here. Great advice and great recipies. I can see this hobby providing me with many many years of happiness.

I've gotta go to the Pub tonight. Cuts into the time available for Homebrew drinking.

Cheers,

It said to on the back of the packet. Is that bad?

Don't know, i've only done a dozen brews myself. I've just never heard of anyone boiling their yeast. Hopefully an experienced brewer will set your mind at ease (didn't mean to worry you).

I am sure that is a tyope and that you meant Cascade hops, not Cascade yeast - yeah?

Stands to reason considering you have put Saflager yeast in already - and that boiling a yeast for 10 minutes would kill the little fekers!

LOL...

if you're not using the cheapo coopers yeast, you can add it to the boil to provide nutrient for the quality yeast you plan to use

Sorry my fault there. It should say hops not yeast.

It's been a long week. I havent even had a drink yet

I might try that trick with the yeast in my next brew. I still have the kit stuff in the fridge.

Thanks for the tip
