Hi all,

I don't have access to a good brewing calculator here and was hoping to work out the ABV for the brew I just bottled:
-Coopers Aust PA can
-2 kg BE2
-280g LDME
-Filled to 21L
-Bulk primed with 200g dex

It's been brewed/racked/cc'd for 7/7/14 days so it should be fermented fully (although I'm only using kit yeast)

Can someone please help out?

Cheers,

Tim

I would do the calc myself but really cant be arsed finding out what BE2 contains...... a bag of sugar with some malt waved over it?

Bookmark this link as it is very useful when doing K&K and extract. It also gives you an idea of what the FG should be.

With that 7/7/14 regime you should have a nice beer on your hands altho with 200g of dex i reckon you will have a fizzy bastard... I add 160g for a 23L batch.

1kg of BE2 is 0.5 dex, 0.25 LDM, 0.25 maltodextrin.

Ah! So as they waved the malt over the bag of sugar a bit fell in....

In that case, abv = 7.5%. Damn, fizzy, knock your socks off pale! Add the extra 0.5% for the priming sugar and your into the 8's.....

just noticed - 200g of dex priming 21L is going to be quite fizzy indeed hehe

timmy, want to swap some bottles at some stage, try each other's brews?

Sounds good KEG. I'm in Berwick so it's not too far.

I made a similar brew as my third HB (kit + Be2 in 23L) and it was fantastic. I've added LDME, reduced the volume and added temp control so this one should be a pearler.

Running the figures through John palmers formula i get OG of 1059,FG 1015 to 1019 and ABV 5.56%-6.1%.I have used the brewcraft calculator and it always seems to over estimate the OG of my recipes.
