I read a post from Oliver some time back about the special effect an overload of cloves in a ginger beer he made gave him. Using this as a base I have come up with my own Anesthetic Ale.

Coopers Bitter
300g LME
400g DME
300g Dark Brown Sugar
150 Light Crystal - steeped 30 mins
300g Dextrose
200g Wheat Malt
20g Cascade - 20 min boil
20 cloves - boiled for 10 mins

Before taste testing, I though the the cloves would have made it undrinkable however not only did the cloves give that little extra kick it tastes very nice.

The cloves do indeed give your beer an extra dimension. According to herbal literature, cloves are not only good as an anesthetic they stop flatulence (thank god says the missus), reduce nausea (if you drink too much just have another Anesthetic Ale and you'll be right), and are an aphrodisiac (didn't work for me on the night  ).
