I was wondering, after your empty your primary fermenter into a secondary fermenter,
can you use the yeast cake at the bottom of the fermenter in a new brew
the next time?

Yes Benjamin, you can.

Gotta get that next batch on - one week in the secondary and she'll be ready to drink! :P (jokes)

well mate you can f--- off , i'v had enough of all you idiots
on this forum laughing and making fun of me because i ask a question
i'm not coming back to this forum ever again
so f--- off pale ale an his gronies , the way you treat newbie brewers

Mate, firstly I answered your question adequately.

Secondly, like I said in my first post, I was only joking.

Most brewers can take a bit of ribbing as we all give each other a bit. The above was clearly in good fun and harmless.

ben.d, if you are a genuine poster, please accept my apologies for the offence caused.

Also, I'd make the observation that IMO the way you asked that question implies that you already knew the answer.

Ben, chill out. Pale_Ale had a joke with you, I dont think it was personal.

I understand that you may of had a hard time on another post but in this case to quote Pale_Ale it was clearly in good fun and harmless.

Cheers mate.

Crikey

ben.d, you will find there are a few on here who will take the piss just to fire you up and there are others where it will be tongue in cheek, like Pale_Ale just did...........You'll soon work out which ones want a fight.

Let it slide. Some-one had a go at me the other day on your thread, for my response, and then all of a sudden people started to agree with me, to an extent. Just respond as my daughter does "Whatever" :D .

In answer to your question, I have read on here before that you certainly can do that. I have not, as I always worry about infections and I always think that if I throw another 20mm of crud on the bottom, it may suck too much through the tap when I rack or bottle.

Stay on here mate, you will learn a bit and just ignore the ones who really have a go. Pale_Ale is a good bloke and has given me plenty of info over the past year.

Cheers

thanks boonie for nice response, i appreciate it.

I don't understand why people make fun of newbie brewers like myself,
when all i want to do is learn to make good homebrew properly.
and the only way i see is 2 ask technical questions without getting laughed at.

cheers boonie

I've been quite embarrassed by the way people have been talking on here recently. Maybe this place isn't for me anymore either.

Hey guys,

Again, go easy. Bear in mind that the tone of the written word is easily misconstrued, even if there are smilies at the end.

Try and be nice to each other!

If you think someone's out of line, please inform me. Don't start a slanging match.

G'day everyone,

I think this has gotten a little out of hand. I'd like to apologise to ben.d - Ben, I was only joking but I can see that joke or not, you were offended. Please stick around, this site is a good source of info for all of us.

With that now said, I do believe there have been some mean spirited messages getting round. Let's try and pick it up a bit.

Boonie, cheers for your comments, I'm glad someone recognises that my comment was clearly tongue in cheek

rwh - I have to disagree with you - although there are people who only post on contraversial topics etc., the vast majority are helpful home brewers interested in pursuing their hobby. I have personally found this site to be a great source of info. It's not all bad mate!

Cheers

Try to harvest the top bit of a yeast cake, don't dig to the bottom - those are dead yeast.

And now for Ben.d's apology for bagging out everyone here on another forum, and for telling pale ale and others to F*** off. I don't believe others have behaved in this way.

True, rhino. What happens and is said on one forum should remain there. Taking it to another is just bad form.
And no, I`m not stirring anything.

I had a thought about the oxygen comment from the other post.

I'll put it in the other post so not to get off topic.
