Add
1.5kg Liquid malt extract
15g Hallertau 20 minutes
15g Saaz 2 minutes
Dry hop with 15g Saaz in the secondary
use Saflager (any number)
Don't boil the kit.
Keep it at 10C for primary, lager at 4C for 6 weeks or so.
That should give you a decent drop!

This is one of my favourites. It's from the HB&B Q&A section;
1 can Cooper's Pilsner
1.2kg light dried or liquid malt
40g Saaz hop pellets
METHOD
Add 200g of the malt and 20g of the hop pellets to 2 litres water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Be careful it doesn't boil over, as it creates one hell of a mess. After 20 minutes, add the rest of the hops, cover and turn off the heat. Leave it for another 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix up the malt and can as usual, dissolving it all in boiling water and adding to the fermenter. Strain the hop mixture and add the liquid to the fermenter. Discard the hops.
I do it every third or fourth brew. I've done it with a variety of kits, even the brewiser one, and they've all turned out super. I generally use 50g Saaz pellets, I usually go 25/25 but sometimes 20/30.
Do it man, it's filth.......

I've gone all over the site and can't seem to find a recipe for a malt extract pilsner.
Trying to make my own pilsner along the lines of Urquell. I'm after a bitter/malty pilsner with a crisp finish.
So far I'm thinking along the lines of:
3 KG LLME
80g Saaz @ 60 mins
20g Saaz @ 20 mins
20g Saaz @ 5 mins
20g Saaz @ dry hop into rack
S-23 Yeast
I need to know about any other Malt Extracts or specialty grains that I should add to this brew, in order for it to be a good pilsner.
I just pulled the numbers and times for boil out of thin air, so I've got no idea whatsoever if it's going to be any good.

That should give you an OG of about 1044, for a 23 litre batch. If you are using hop pellets, as I assume, you will have a total IBU of about 50, which might be too bitter for your taste?

warra,
It does need more malt, do you reckon i should give it some wheat malt and some extra light dried or something else. What sorts of grains would go down well here, i.e. Crystal or whatever.
Its got the right amount of bitterness, it just needs the correct amount of malt extract to balance.
Anyone else feel free to voice their ideas about a malt extract plisner.

I'd go 200g of a light crystal. Up your hops a bit to compensate too. I wouldn't go with wheat, I'm just not a fan- least of all in a pilsner.

Have just tried this and it looks like it will turn out great. It's on it's third week in the cube and I still can't resist tasting the Hydro reading sample. Just up the hops to suite yourself and sub in your yeast.
Morgan's Golden Saaz Pilsener
Munich cracked grain 900 gm Partial mash
LLME 500 gm
LDME 150gm + (150 for your kit)
Dried corn syrup 100gm
Hallertau 10gm at 20min
Saaz 10gm at 5 min
Saaz 10gm at flame out
Made up to 20lt
Saflarger US-05

I did a "kit and kilo" Pils recently that turned out really well. From memory I used Morgan's Golden Saaz Pilsener + 400g of dried LME, 400g of dried DME and 200g of Dextrose. Boiled up the LME, DME and Dex with 2L of water, flamed out and mixed the kit through. Topped up with cold to 23L. Primed with 1/2 cup Dex + 1/2 cup dried LME boiled in 1 cup of water. Colour was deep orange, head retention was awesome and the flavour was bloody outstanding: knocked most of them off almost straight away. Here's a pic from my blog.

What final volume are you planning? Looks like you will have some lovely flavour there.

I'm going for 23L as usual. all of my brews are done to this volume. I'm not sure if theyres anything else i could add to make it better.
The alpha acid on the saaz might not be 5% so i may need more pending if its 3% or 5%.

Looks good but you may be overdoing it a touch with the hops, 160gms is a hell of alot infact if i was doing an all grain i would use in the vacinity of 80-100 depending on style so just something to look at
