G'day guys, I just purchased 2 ESB fresh wort kits one is a 'Pilsner' the other an 'American pale ale'. The pilsner came with Saflager and the APA with Safale. Has anyone tryed these before and how did they come up?

Ditto to DB's post minus the cascade. I didn't think it was all that, but alot of my mates loved it.

just bottled the irish red, made to 19 liters with liquid british ale yeast (wasn't any irish ale yeast left), tasting it just like that makes me want to fast forward the next 2 weeks :) Nice chocolaty smell and after taste, yummy.

I was thinking of trying the pilsner in a couple of months (when it's cold enough), was also looking at the amber, any feedback on those?
They also have an IPA now (seasonal), anybody tried it yet?

Still, had you tried the APA before, and thought it needed something extra.
If so good, but if it was the first time, I can't understand why you would try to alter something that already has a good record.

Indeed Mr normell, dry hopping is a very very wise thing to do for an APA. There is no way for a kit maker to dry hop for you now isn't it? Dry hops in the secondary is not at all like flameout additions. Mr db should not be criticised for dry hopping APA. Dry hops in stout or Irish Red ale would be much different thing.
