Finally did my AG red ale (now with pics)

I put this down on friday gone, and it smells and tastes so fantastic, colour of JSAA, but more ruby, with passionfruit and pine from the simcoe and a lovely caramel roast choc flavour. If you want to do a brown/amber/red ale, try this. I might try WL american ale next time as apparently it's better.

Very nice - some US-05 or American Ale yeast and you're well on the way to a Fat Tire clone...
I've got an opportunity to brew tomorrow so I might have a go at this recipe.

The Bitterness is spot on IMO, the simcoe defin lets you know its there but subsides very quickly letting you taste all those lovely malts and fruity simcoe flavours, the fresh smell of the vacume sealed hop pouch had my eyes rolling back in my head :lol:

racked this for cc last night, had one last taste of the sample and it is to die for, well i think so anyway!

easily my best brew yet, and i'm gonna say it, no HB kit tang, very happy for my second AG.

Looking good Gibbo! I did a UK variant of your recipe and added 300g of Carapils and used Northern Brewer and Target hops instead.

Finishing off in primary right now.

Sounds wicked!
I've heard very good things about NB, might start using them rather than wasting 80g of sazz on my next pils only to get 25 IBU, is the bittering as soft?

Yep, NB, IMHO is an excellent bittering hop - lagers, APA's, Stout, etc etc - it's my favourite bittering hop and is a great hop when used in conjunction with Tettnanger and Saaz flavour/aroma additions.
