Cascade to reduce bottle size

Post by Pyssedas Heavy Industrial »

What an irksome Christmas gift from the people at Fosters - they are going to reduce the size of Cascade bottles by 45ml but still charge as much - but fear not over at Pyssedas Heavy Industrial we have written them a stern letter that may change their minds! It also includes references to Don Bradman and monkey faeces so it is probably not appropriate for children...

The worst I have seen are the 250ml Grolsch and XXXX Gold bottles. Not sure who they target with those really...
Prost and happy brewing!

As a general rule, I quite like 330ml bottles. A lot of imported beers come in 330ml bottles and I've got used to them. But paying the same price for 45ml less? Well that just plain sucks.

250ml isnt even a mouthful when you've spent the whole morning mowing the lawn on a hot summers day... Why do they bother, you're probably spending more money on the bottles and packaging rather than the beer itself....

And for people who think that 375ml bottles are too hard to grasp, maybe they should drink their beer through a straw... HA...

It must be pretty hard to grab a beer bottle when your hand is otherwise engaged (which is a problem it seems the employees of these companies have).

To Mr Summons: Get your hand off it and give us our beer back (not that I ever drink Cascade myself, but it is principal!)!

What about brewed under licence 'imports' in 330ml bottles. Purchasers are getting ripped off twice over.

Worst part is most people do not realise they are brewed in Australia because of the misleading packaging and advertising! There really should be a class action againt them for that IMHO.

Make sure you attach the first letter, and mention that they would not address your issues.

Just have a look at the label first to make sure it really is misleading. I thought it specified that it was brewed in aus under license on the back label. That might be all that's required.

It does say that, but unless you are looking for it, you would never know it was there. I realise that is all the law requires, but laws are changed by common interest all the time!

Loved the letter.....

Hard to grasp, he's kidding??, Guaranteed when I used to drink Mega-swill, including Cascade, I never, ever dropped one, even when pissed.

Love reading your letters Pyssedas Heavy Industrial

Maybe its been smeared in AUStealth

No product can be legally sold without proper description ( though there are loopholes) they write exactly what they need to on each bottle, its not like there gonna jump up and tell ya its australian made shit in a fancy little bottle now are they, so if you cant read or are too stupid to know whats written then i feel for you (not really) but they are not going to change any law ( that companys are already going buy ) until they stop writting : Brewed under license in australia buy yada yada at yada yada Its pretty clear dont ya think.

As for the cascade thing Great letter and i pissed myself laughing but good luck as i dont think it will change anything, alot of brewerys are using the 330ml bottles in australia and yeah it sucks to miss out on the whole 45ml ( not even a sip) but big companys have it over us and unless everyone stops drinking there product ( which will never happen or VB would already be extinct) they will never listen..

My advice is build a bridge, stop buying commercial beer and start brewing more and last of all relax and have a homebrew 8)

But you know it is there Leigh, so to you it is obvious (hind sight is a great thing). I do not think anyone is "stupid" for not caring what some dickhead printed on a bottle of beer. The vast majority of people wouldn't care to read more than the name of the beer and would fully miss the "brewed under authority" message cleverly blended with the artwork on the back of the bottle. How many Australians out there buy Heineken, Becks, etc. thinking they are getting a good quality import beer?

Just a couple weeks ago a mate of mine came around with a 6 pack each of those exact two beers and was quite proud that he was drinking "the good stuff" until I pointed out that it was actually brewed here in Australia. Now this mate of mine is by no means stupid, it had just never been pointed out to him before. I am sure he will never buy it again (he said so that night) and I think most would follow suit if they knew.

The only commercial brews I buy are micros, REAL imports, and Hammer n' Tongs :P

Well maybe its just me then but im not a buy and chug sort of drinker, i like to know what im drinking and i would not even buy true imports without reading the label ( if its written in english) in fact i would not eat or drink anything without reading whats in it or where it has been made before i touch it, as far as commercial swill is concerned i dont buy it, i make a good brew so why go and buy shit that i am less than happy with when i have great beer at home on tap, the only times recently that i have bought commercial beer was when i had no other choice and that is rarely
Cheers
