Lager instead of Ale Yeast Question?

I am making a lovely James porter ale that I got from here. Was just wondering does anyone know what would happen if I used saflager 34/70 instead of an ale yeast and cold fermented?

You would get a less fruity profile. As in, the flavours of the malt will shine through, with less influence from the yeast.
