2nd batch dead yeast

G'day, i finally got down my last bottle of home brew which i started a couple months ago, so on saturday i thought i'd start the new batch
it was a coopers real ale kit, combined with brew enhancer 2 kit, 300grams of golden syrup(boiled),

however i put the first 2 litres of warm tap water in put in the can of coopers real ale, plus brew enhancer2, and the golden syrup, stired well, but instead of another 20 litres of cold water i accidently use hot tap water instead, and added the yeast satchel that came with the real ale,

As for the temputure of carboy well, that was off the scale.

The tempurture did drop by that nite to about 28'C then in the morning down to 20'C, 48 hours later i see a scrum ring formed lots of frothy bubbles ontop but also some dead yeast, so far i'v not heard no bubbling

nothing the temperture is now around 18'C, i took a test sample reading with the hydrometer, however the taste of the beer, was lager taste and not ale taste,

surely coopers is not putting wrong labels on their brew cans?
I'm now wondering whether i should throw out this batch and start again, as for the taste i don't know why its got a lager taste and not a redish/darker colour as well.

Can anyone offer some advice to what i should do now?

It seems as if the beer's fermenting, given the scum ring. What's the SG reading? Is it dropping?

Just because the airlock is not bubbling, do not assume the beer is not fermenting.

Don't chuck out the beer. While it might not be the best ever, due to the high temperature initially, it should be drinkable. I'd be trying to reduce the temperature if you can. Perhaps put the fermenter in a bath with cold water in it. Aim for about 20C.

Although by now it has probably finished fermenting.

Don't be too concerned about the taste now. It's far too early to make assumptions of how it will turn out, based on how it is now.

G'day again , oliver i came home late this arvo, and an even larger scum ring had formed, inside the carboy
and the airlock was bubblying away madly.

The temputure now is 18'C, so how long roughly does ale take to ferment?
I pleased about my first brew ever 2 months ago,,

cheers

I have found on average, start (pitch yeast) to finish (bottling) about two weeks

dogger dan, g'day mate, yeah well after my first effort a couple months ago, i thought i'd try again, i thought i made a mistake but, i will wait a bit longer
this time before rushing to bottle , i'm finding that when i made the first batch

i used not only the little plastic coopers bottles i ended up using 2litre lemonade and coke bottles, after sterilising with stuff first and rinsing dry,
it works out 20cents for 2 litres mate, that is so cheap its unbelievable however, i'm the only one that drinks it,

But this now is my first Ale , i was hoping for a nice darker reddish tone so i had the golden syrup(boiled first), however, both tests using the hydrometer says the reading was around 1040 maybe just on the 5% line wasn't as high as the lager brew i did 2 months ago.

So now that that the brew got lots of froth on top and the airlock now is bubblying away madly, i will wait now at least another 10 days to make sure everything is ready to bottle, hmmm must get more lemonade from the supermarket .

cheers
