To kick off the voting for our Ultimate Recipes that will eventually have their own sub forums (assuming mods agree with our other poll) i thought we would start off with one of my faves (and to show i am not biased against kits!)

Boonies LCPA

Recipe as posted by the man himself

1 tin Morgans Stockmans Draught
1.5 kg of Morgans Extra Pale Malt Extract (Liquid)
15g of Cascade pellets - 15min
10g Cluster pellets - 15 min
US56 Yeast.
12g of Chinook Pellets (dry hopped at rack).

We are voting on this, not variations on it which can become either new ultimate recipes or suggestions on how to tweak the original.

Will leave the poll open for 7 days at which point we will have our answer. We can do several of these at once since i dont plan of still be doing this next year at one per week!

If ppl PM me with their suggestions for voting i am happy to run the polls, if they get the tick of approval Kev will whip them into shape in beersmith and the mods can start collating them in a sub forum.

Cheers
DrSmurto

Didn't your version win an award though Doc? Shouldn't we be voting on that one instead? I have never done this recipe so I will exclude myself from voting...

It did but its not the original and most ppl have done Boonies version than mine so i thought rather than add 2 very similar recipes we could add my variation as a footnote. I did after all brew Boonies recipe and then tweak it a few times as all brewers tend to do.

I havent tried this one but still voted yes as i trust my fellow brewers and anyone that has tried this recipe ( and there are alot Just check out the original thread) have been more than happy with it, in fact i dont do kits anymore and i still may have to give it a go just because of the feedback

The HBS didn't have Chinook, so I got Simcoe instead. Is this close enough?

Chinook has a piney grapefruit profile.
Simcoe has a piney pashionfruit profile.
As you are only using 12 grams dry hopped, I think you'll be fine.
The bitterness and flavour will be from the kit,the Cascade and Cluster in any event.

Finally got around to making this and after 3 weeks in the bottle couldn't help myself. Beautiful - thanks Boonie.

how do you reckon this would go with S-33, or WLP029 yeast?
