Don't know if this counts as a bargain. Really more an availability issue.
HBS at Southport, Gold Coast selling (clean, but labels still on) Roll-top XXXX longnecks at $12 a dozen. Says will do better for bulk. Didn't ask him how many he had (I already have enough).
I have no involvement with store other than that of satisfied (and hence faithful) customer.
Hell, the guy kegs, and even offers the occasional cold libation to the hot and weary traveller!

Never been in this place myself but the guy deserves a medal, as he (I gather) has been the catalyst for transforming my old man's beer from approaching undrinkable (and for me that is BAD) to a pretty fair beer.

Apart from improving my drinking he has also saved me from answering awkward questions!

Old man has also scored some of these tallies.

Me I just buy 'em (screw tops) with beer in 'em and carefully empy them out as it were :D

I count generating and collecting empty beer bottles amongst my main hobbies. Buy 'em full (and not just screwtops), empty 'em myself. Gives me quite a sense of achievment. Dan Murphys is my home away from home. Sometimes I even drink the ones I brew myself :-) But, I prefer to stockpile. Never know when nuclear winter, asteroid impact, act of God, change of government (or is this the same as the previous one?), ... , will severely impact on the world's beer supplies: who will be your Daddy then eh?

And there I was thinking that the whole idea was to brew something to drink!!

Last time I saw a Dan Murphy's I was in Vic. They don't seem to be up here at present. Might be worth a trip when next the troops and I visit the coast.

I don't have the bottles to store the volume of beer that the more feverish brewers do (yet....) Have managed to "secure an option" on 5 cartons of empty for tallies from my boss which would boost supply potential greatly.

I had a dream last night about long-neck, crown-seal bottles.

I was at work in the loading dock and looking in the recycling bin. Separated out were about half a dozen crown-seal long-necks. I was about to try and salvage them when I woke up!

Am I strange? I mean, dreaming about beer is one thing, but dreaming about empty bottles ... :?

It was the full moon that prompted the more vivid and off-beat dream. The eternal look out for good bottles was provided by the sub conscious.

Cheers,
