Confessions

Post by homebrewer79 »

I thought I'd start a thread on this seeing as though I have one, last night I was havin a few beers with some mates, I had to bring my own sixer of CPA cause all the host drinks is VB. So I've downed my sixer in about 2 hours (I was very thisty :) ). Was trying to con his missus into joining me to the bottle shop but she already had a bottle of Bundy and thus wasn't interested. I went a couple of hours without a beer and everyone else was gettin happy, then the host asked me if I wanted a VB. I said yes  . Drank about six of the bloody things.

Well that's my confession, what's yours

I tried to drink a can of VB once. It didn't taste too bad at -1C but I started getting terrible pains in my stomach about half way through. I tried again not long after and confirmed the stuff really is not good for me!
Prost and happy brewing!

 This morning was the first time in a long time I felt shit house after havin' a few beers, without drinking a lot. I think the last time was quite a few years ago and I also drank VB that night too.

Be warned people, stay away form cat piss, or else you'll have to wash you're mouth out with something decent in the morning when you get up. Which looks bad if it's 10am

I cannot answer this question on the grounds that my answer may incriminate me... let me just say that it may (or may not) involve Emu Export/Emu Bitter.

I think we need some perspective here.

What is the worse crime: Drink VB et al or be thirsty and sober?

Extreme times sometimes call for extreme measures.

Your choice of beer can reflect how you want to present yourself.

VB is the chosen drink by most people without a home, drunk all day, abusive and sitting in their own filth on a city park bench..

Why don't we ever see CUB honouring its most loyal drinkers??

While I have never drank it, I used to use the term, lets go get a 30 can pack of POWERS GOLD and sit under the bridge and get smashed........ :D

Has anyone had experience with this beer, come on, be honest...

It amazes me now since I started home brewing how much attention I pay to what people buy from the bottle shop and put in the back of their utes, cars, carrying. Then I just think, oh my god how can you, especially the price they pay for say, a carton of VB. :o

Its sort of like when your partner is pregnant or just had a baby, you notice how many women are pregnant or have new babies, something you generally dont notice until it involves you... :)

Played Indoor Cricket and we used to take a case every week. 2 Schooners per match sometimes 3 as most of us drove.

My mate started on Reschs Real, which at first was freaking aweful as I was a Tooheys drinker at that stage. I became very accustomed to it after about 3-4 weeks.

I tried it again at a mates place recently with a Hammer and Tongs chaser, lets just say Hammer and Tongs was better.

I will drink anything, if that all is available as gregb stated. :D But most of the time I actually prefer my HB..especially when drinking VB straight from the can.

Cheers

I am well past the stage in my life where I want to drink anything other than what I choose to drink. I have at times gone to restaurants, and rejected their entire beer menu.

I was in Canberra for a few days last week to see an exhibition at the National Gallery. The place we stayed gave me a voucher for a free drink at their bar.

When I lobbed up they had 3 taps, Stella, Carlton Draught, and Blonde.
I checked out the fridge, and in bottled they had about a dozen more lagers.

I said to the bar guy, "these beers are all lagers, do you have anything that's not a lager?"

His reply was precious, "yeah we do, we have a couple of light beers".

Anyway, I opted for the Stella. Was drinkable, but it was no Pilsner Urquel.

He's the Tooheys and Hammer and Tongs drinker

I drink his beer cause it's free :D ...I actually used to do HB with this guy. He is talking about getting back into it

Cheers

30 can pack of POWERS GOLD
Can you still get this? Used to be one of the cheapest 30 packs around. Been quite a while since I've had it though. I know a yachtie who swears by Toohey's gold (I think) as he reckons its the beer that tastes the best at room temperature (limited cooling facilities on the boat).

Well as I sit here right now I'm drinking a Crowny...

Just asked my Mrs to get me a carton of Cooper's while she was down at the shops but brought back the Crown instead..

But my confession is....... I like it :) It's heaps better than what used to be my staple beer which is another confession in itself...

Emu Bitter!! I have even previously stated it as being God's Nectar   What was I thinking??

Oh well it's out now, hope you don't judge too harshly. :(

I willingly admit to have a soft spot in my heart for MGD and Bud...

Not sure anyone can beat that...

Though in my own defense I do think both of those beers has a time when they truely are the best brew for the job!

Actually yes, and it is also a very popular style amongst AG brewers. It is a very hard beer to do properly, but the results are well worth the effort IMHO.

Sif you Aussies don't sell heaps of "Draught" beer in cans? How is it any different to sell "Draft" beer in bottles?

Also it is Miller, not Millers, no such thing as far as I know :P
