Ask me again at 2.05 on Saturday....unless of course the power of speech eludes me.

I see our esteemed premier, Bracksy, likes his ales a wee bit heavy.

Which tastebudless git gave Hahn Premium Light the gong for best low-alcohol beer :?: :?: No body, no flavour, no hop profile.... If I'm in the unfortunate position of having to drink light, Cascade is the only (commercial) light I've found that actually tastes like it was supposed to be a light beer and not something they brewed then added 50% more water to.

Merlin, Have you ever tried Roger's Beer?
Made by the good folks at Little Creatures in Freo. Far and away the best mid-strength beer I've ever had...comes in at approx 3.8% but packed with flavour.
I was staggered by the Hahn Light result too.

Champion Brewery???
South Australian Brewing Company?
Note: Owned by Lion Nathan.

Have they got any good brews?
Let's see Westend, Southwark, ...

Hmmm ...

Beach Bum,

I'd never heard of Roger's Beer until I read the list above, I'll have to have a look for it. I've only ever seen the Little Creatures Pale Ale in bottlo's in Sydney. Then again, I haven't looked that hard...

Um, at the risk of sounding soft and you blokes never taking me seriously again, give Cooper's Light a go if you're looking for a good light beer.

Oliver, please describe a situation where a light beer is warrented for a bloke (except for giving to the baby getting Christened or something similar, as babies are not men).

Yeah Oliver,
If you must drink light, and I will admit you would have to have a pretty good excuse, Coopers at least tastes like it is beer, a couple of beers before having to drive is about the only excuse that springs to mind, though if I am driving I abstain these days, just in case.

The Baron, you'd give light beer to a baby ? ! ? Doing that in such a formative stage of his development could be very detrimental.

Nah, as much schtick as it gets, I'd rather sup a few more lighties with my mates than the normal two full strength quota. Sitting in a pub and not drinking (or even taking it easy) is a skill I am yet to master.

So yeah, as far as light beer goes, give my vote to Cascade. I don't think I've seen Coopers light in Sydney.

Coopers Extra Light gets sold in super markets here in Queensland as it is about 0.01% (we need to go to grog shops to get anything heavier)
Evo, you must prepare the boys liver young for the abuse it will cop latter in life.

Oh. Never seen the extra light either. So does that mean it is sold as a soft drink ? No age restrictions ? There used to be another one of those in the supermarkets ages ago (maybe their still is). Kinda like the Claytons of the beer world.

And yeah, with you Baron. I meant it would be detrimental giving him light instead of full strength. What if he got a taste for light beer and CHOSE to drink it

It can be found in any independant IGA or any Coles supermarket in the pre-mix drink isle next to the home brew supplies...

Evo, the attachment to Light beer seems to end when you give them shots of rum to help ease the teething pains

I think this is what's also called (or used to be called) Birell. you can buy it in most supermarkets here.

It's 0.5% alcohol.

As fascinating a topic as light beer is, I thought we were talking about the Beer awards?

Woah! Thanks for helping me snap out of that. I don't know what came over me, but it wasn't pleasant.
